Memphis should be #1
When you look at their schedule so far this year there's no reason to keep North carolina as the top team in the country. memphis beat three BE teams by no less than 10 points each and yesterday they knocked off their second top 25 team so far this season.
NC has played nobody all year.
Why are they #1.

I'm not a fan of Memphis but fair is fair. Also I do sort of hate the ACC (A$$) conference.

I agree, I've been saying/thinking the same thing the last few weeks. Memphis is the better, more talented team and they have beaten quality opponents. The talking heads will say that North Carolina has the tougher conference slate but Memphis OOC schedule is MUCH tougher then the ACC. And C-USA isn't that much weaker then UNC's OOC schedule. I mean, when you pound the #18 team and the #4 team and you also beat Connecticut, Oklahoma and Kentucky you have to be #1. The stupid thing is, not only is North Carolina #1, if Selection Sunday were today they would STILL give UNC the overall #1 seed even though Memphis has more quality wins.

Polls mean nothing in basketball, because we solve this on the court with a tournament.

You can say polls mean nothing as you sit in one of the big six leagues, but Memphis needs all the pub it can get so a number one by its name would mean a lot. I am biased but to me watching both teams play, Memphis is better than NC. Maybe better is the wrong term; hungrier for sure.

Memphis should be number one right now. Hungrier? Better? Hopefully the teams meet. NC is very hungry now that Frasor went down, the team is very inspired.

Agreed. Memphis has proven a whole lot more than UNC, and probably anyone in the country. At this time, they should be #1. I think, by the time that the season is over, they may be number 1. I just dont feel that UNC is going to go unscathed in the Acc, and Memphis is far and away, above everyone else in Cusa. They should end up with the #1 overall seed in the tourney.

What scares me with Memphis is that once the get into conference play the level of competition goes down and I hope they are prepared when it rises again in the tournament. They are as far as I am concerned the #1 team and the rankings should show that.

If a BEast team can't win the NC, I sure hope Memphis does.

That worries me to. I think Memphis has couple of solid OOC game scheduled for later in the year. Also, there are a couple of solid C-USA teams like UAB, Tulane, UTEP and Houston.

Rankings mean a lot when you're trying to get national pub when seedng comes and for recruiting. Memphis being in C-USA hurts them in both regards and they need as much pub as they can get.

The Rpi's in CUSA are better than last year.. so they shouldn't be hurt quite as much.

It pains me to say it 03-melodramatic, but Memphis looks very good this year.
