I don't think race have to do with anything when it come to crime. All race has committed a crime. Its the people doing the crime not the race. Race does not have anything to do with it.

That's pretty much what I was trying to say. I've met all kinds here, and we've all made mistakes. We are all trying to rehabilitate, and it seems that most "mistakes" are a result of background, and have little to do with race. That's one thing we all agree on.

Those of you whining about "gee, why bring race into this?" or acting aghast that someone would dare infer a black person might be the one commiting auto breakins in a predominantly black part of a town that is 63% black should STFU. Get off your PC high horse and join the rest of mankind in the real world.

I personally don't care if it is white, black, yellow, red, or bronze criminals breaking into cars. LOCK THEIR CRIMINAL @SS UP!

The lack of a superior police presence at such a major sporting event is criminal in and of itself.

We all know that the majority of crime in Memphis is being committed by young black men. Squid brought up the race issue not me. I don't care if they are black or white all criminals should be arrested. I thought this was a sports board. Maybe Squid post his racist comments on the wrong board.

The majority of Memphians are African-Amercian so that is a reasonable assumption. Therefore, negative or cynical comments are more than often directed at them.

I'm proud of Gadd, he did our commmunity a tremendous service getting this criminal off the street. They should give him a free "toy" or video to take home to the wife.

Boss man makes a good point. You would expect a larger police presence in this part of town. The LB sits in the hood, so who has a better chance of commiting a crime in the hood.. blacks..duh. You dont see people from Germantown and Collierville sneaking over to break into some cars. You would need to put a cop every 20 feet to control it but something needs to be done.

For what it is worth, downtown vandalism seems to be most caused by overaged frat boys from east Shelby County.

I think the ones that are commiting the crimes already live there and know what they are doing. I think the crime rate in those areas prove what is going on. You dont see any break-ins, vandalism or murders during the fed ex st. Jude golf tournament in germantown every year do you. There is just a ton of crimes being committed over at Southwind.

I probably am but it is obvious you believe that I am referring to the Liberty Bowl area. Read it again. I am referring to downtown.

I live in Cooper Young close to the Liberty Bowl. I can tell you that during big events a lot of the crime DRIVES IN from other areas. It should be no surprise that large events are a magnet for crime. Our section of the neighbor is quiet and safe except for the worst month of the year: September! Between football games, the f@#ing Mid-South Fair, and Cooper Young Festival, we get crime, traffic/cars driving too fast, noise (blaring music, people walking by screaming and yelling), and trash from people who come to my neighborhood and litter!

Don't mean to rant, but honestly: we don't have these problems when there's not some big event at the Liberty Bowl.
