RE: Tex Bowl
BIG EAST was happy with this bowl last season as Rutgers brought a lot of fans to that game to give that game a boost in attendence. To say that the BIG EAST does not want this bowl is not true.

RE: Tex Bowl
I think this bowl was smart in how it set up its scheduling.. With CUSA U stand a very good chance of getting a tex school with BE thrown in U get an extra BCS.. Tcu from the MWC was a perfect match up this year to add fans..

RE: Tex Bowl
I think the Big East would be better off letting this bowl go and trying to hook up with another, non-rotating bowl. The Texas Bowl can remain a C-USA vs MWC bowl and the Big East can try and create their own bowl, maybe a Florida or Indy Bowl vs a BCS conference team.

It's relegated to the NFL network, which means nobody of significance in The BEast can watch it on cable.

Right. The rotating nature is a big negative, and the TV package is a big negative.

Other than that, it's fine. :)

If the Texas "Lone Star" (Lone Star is my nickname for this bowl because Texas Bowl sucks as a name) Bowl featured Big East vs Big 12 every year, then I think we'd be fine with it.

Did you actually watch the game? The top level was basically vacant. The lower levels were fairly full...no more than 35,000 in there. That was was a hometown team and one 4 hours away with a ton of their alumni located in Houston.

Absolutely. If they put this bowl game on espn and make it Big East v s Big 12 every year I'd love to have it in our rotation. I dont know why anyone wouldnt want it as one of our bottom bowls. The goal is to get rid of the papa johns bowl and the international bowl. We could do a lot worse than the texas bowl as our 5th or 6th bowl

Exactly. I thought it was a perfect arrangement, we got games like Rutgers vs Kansas State. Rutgers should have gotten a better bowl being ranked, but if the consolation is playing a BCS team in a bowl it works out perfectly. If we had that bowl this year then USF, Rutgers and Cincinnati would have been playing BCS schools, which would have helped a ton with our perception as a conference.

RE: Tex Bowl
Based on observations by Houston U and TCU fans at the game and posted on CUSA board, it appears there were about 30,000 Houston fans, 15,000 TCU fans, and about 10,000 casual fans...for a total of 55,000 fans in attendance.
