I would absolutely love it and it would be a HOME RUN if it happens. English is a pretty good DC and would be a upgrade over former DC Mike Cassity.

Also with English he is a very good recruiter and it would also be seen as a splash hire because he was up for a couple of HC jobs this offseason. The other splash hire would be John Tenuta who will be leaving Georgia Tech in a couple of days. But my guess is he is heading to LSU to replace Bo Pelini.

BTW, this rumor is all over the Louisville board and you have a couple of Louisville fans that are pooh poohing it which is INSANE.

Word is Louisville was at a couple of Michigan practices last week so this rumor does have legs.

I would love to bring back from Michigan WR Coach Erik Campbell, DB coach Vance Bedford, DL coach Steve Stripling along with Ron English.

This would be my dream Louisville coaching staff:

Head Coach - Steve Kragthorpe - (actually more like a nightmare)
Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach - Jeff Brohm
Running Back Coach - Tony Alford
Wide Receiver Coach - Erik Campbell
Offensive Line Coach - Mike Summers - (Brett Myers has done a fine job but Summers is better)
Tight Ends Coach - Greg Nord
Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Back Coach - Ron English
Defensive Line Coach - Steve Stripling
Linebacker Coach - Reggie Johnson
Special Teams Coach - Mark Nelson

This staff would also be the strongest recruiting staff we ever had and in the end it is all about acquiring talent.

RE: UL fans, what's your take?
I would be ecstatic... we might actually have a good secondary... Ron English is the only coach ever to have 2 AA secondary players in the same year...

The only thing I would like is to see how he would have done next year... this year his D was 24 last year top 10, I would have liked to seen if this was a trend(like Cassity), or a flucuation...

For all some hate Cassity it seems they forget his first two years we were, I want to say, 18th(03) and 23rd(04) in D... of course in 06 we were 40th-ish and this year 80 something...
