I think this was a good first week for the WAC. The conference seems to be improved.

Boise is still dominant. Hawaii looks to be pretty good. Louisiana Tech looks to be pretty good they hung with Nebraska for the first half. Nevada and Fresno will be good.

The bottom feeders:

Idaho and San Jose State will win their fair share of games and only get better the next few years. Same for NMSU.

No idea what happened with Utah State. An off day?

One can only hope, but my gut says no. I was mildy optimistic just because I am a fan, but this team has some major issues on offense. Rebuilding a program like USU is not an easy task, and I am willing to give a coach a few years to prove his merit, but today's game just sucked. Laramie has always been a tough place to play, but this game was just bad. On the radio one the color analyst stated that he has seen USU play better on offense against Nebraska, Alabama etc. We play @Arkansas, Utah, and @BYU over the next 3 weeks. I just hope the team can improve the offensive execution or those games will be even worse.

However someone once said (I think it was Bill Parcells) "You are never as bad as you think when you lose, nor as good as you think when you win." I just hope that the players get a little more competitive fire over the next few days of practice. I remember Nevada and Tulsa both had some tough losses last year, but turned things around. Hey I'm still a naive fan. ;-)

PSU is a good team, we already noticed it from last year and the Lobos might have overlooked the game. Nevertheless, the Lobos slipped this week to a very good 1AA team. This loss would hurt the Lobos spirit a bit, but life has to go on to ... next week.

If Hawaii's game in '00 with PSU is any indication, UNM is looking at a longggg year...(Hawaii lost to PSU)

Boise got a lot of heat for a "too close for comfort" game vs PSU last year. Didn't Fresno have some trouble with them a couple of years ago also? They definately have some D1 level athletes.

One certain Lobo fan sure gave BSU a bad time about it on another board. I can't wait to run into Mr. Loboblast next time

Next time one of them calls Boise State the cupcake king for just beating "lesser" teams, just let them know, at least you beat them. 05-stirthepot

I think it is reasonable to assume that NMSU could be 3-0 heading into UTEP with how their schedule is. Of course going 3-0 heading into that UTEP which is possible would that really do anything to answer questions about the team and I think that would be a no.

I hope USU turns it around and comes out next week pumped up and everything because I think their pride should be hurt after that lose a little to Wyoming and should be in the mindset to get it back next week.

But Portland St, they haven't done well in the Big Sky and got stomped by UC-Davis last year I think. I think some I-A teams are overlooking I-AA teams. I-AA teams have absolutely nothing to lose so they are going to pull out all stops where I-A may not

Portland State is 2-20 against D1 teams right?

LOL reading the Lobo board they make it sound like Portland state would be a top team in D1 with all their transfers.
