Setting the tone for this season
I am not really concerned about what happens in Vegas. If we win a game there that is gravy, but I don't expect a whole lot. MN and UNLV are almost out of the question, and Nichols State would be tough. Our season depends on us getting off to a quick start in conference.
Our first three opponents are all at home: Mercer, Jacksonville, and North Florida. I think it is an imperative that we go 2-1 for these first 3 games. We should beat North Florida (although they always play us tougher than anyone else in the league), and we have to figure out a way to beat either Mercer or Jacksonville. Starting out 3-0 would really give our guys a boost of confidence, but I even think that 2-1 would really give our guys a fresh start on the season.

RE: Setting the tone for this season
We should be concerned about going to Vegas and doing well!
The team practices tonight. It would be a great waste of time especially on the holidays
In all seriousness ...
I think the coaches are finalizing the rotation. This is good competition and they need to see how well it will work. Of course there is always room for someone to step up and chip in who is outside of the rotation. The coaches also think we can win 2 of 3 in Vegas. Personally I don't think so, but I don't think we will be swept.
Of course I have been wrong before.

RE: Setting the tone for this season
We have an abysmal record OOC. The conference schedule looks tougher and tougher each time I look at it therefor I have stopped doing so. The season started 10 games ago for those who have their eyes shielded. Finding a lineup shouldn't be our main focus but it is. An article stated the only surprise in the ASun was that ksu's season is starting the way it is
Offer ways to improve. Don't just state the problems but ways to overcome these problems. That's what I try and believe. I'm at a loss with most of this stuff.
Maybe than pick a PG, stick with him through all the minutes in practice.
Try some motion offense or some full court press to get the other team something other than what they've seen from us so far. Maybe just more defense
Practices need to be more productive into showing up in the win column. Coach knows how to do this, it just hasn't clicked yet for whatever reason.
Don't give up on the season but make some changes to get out of the rut we've been riding in.
Set some goals such as over 500 in conference play, 80% free throws, positive turnover margin, consecutive wins, home/away wins
A few words about basketball then I'm done:
-Probation sucks and destroys any chance of a smooth transition
-recruiting will get better
-competition in the asun is weak
-i still want to beat etsu even though they don't claim it as a rivalry, its probably not one outside of these boards but that's what makes it fun
-new year means new opportunities, see you in 08!

I don't like the big lineup.. If we could find some decent play out of McConnell and/or Pollock at point I wish we'd go with it. Stegall is our past paint player and having him, Jacobs, and JMac could give us one of the better front courts in the ASun. This Vegas trip is very important. This is the last tinkering of the lineup we'll see before conference play starts. We also have to have Keonte or Daughety step up, I don't care which one.

RE: Setting the tone for this season
I do think we are a much better team right now than we were at the beginning of the year with the changes the coaches have made, however it just isn't showing up in the win column. That is why I think these first 3 games in conference are critical. Our guys are playing better, but they really need to get a win - for their own confidence. I agree with the goals, and I am sure they have set a lot of goals that they are trying to accomplish. I would rather have a miserable out of conference season and a great in conference than vice versa. Let's hope we can make that happen.
