Unlike the supporters of a certain other institution, Memphis fans will not grovel for admittance. I respect that. I have not for some time been a 'great' fan of Memphis' addition simply because I've always felt that other regions needed to be explored first. But I've largely changed my mind about that, largely but not entirely.

Just announce that you have a real opening for a new BE member and you'll have a hundred posters from 20 schools prostituting themselves and their schools begging for admission; regardless of modesty, confidence or anything else. lol

You're probably right about that oldtiger, but very, very few of the 20 has the favorable attractives of Memphis. But what do I know? They would be better served petitioning Tranghese directly, or the other BE member institutions. 'Prostituting themselves' LOL 04-bow

RE: Memphis and Big East
I can't speak for everyone, but IMO it's pretty simple as to why so many "visitors" are so drawn to the Big East (or these boards in particular). You have what others (myself included) covet. The ACC, SEC, BIG 12, PAC 10 are pretty much set in stone. The Big 10, should they expand, will pick from amongst current BCS schools. You (the Big East) have the only viable acess to the BCS, ie. money, power, prestige, & bowl championship opportunities. So as long as there is a chance for a split, the Big East with their 4 potential spots, will be the target of every eastern school in Division I with aspirations of 'moving up". Until those 4 spots are filled you will continue to see expansion threads. I know this is all pretty obvious. It is what it is.
