OT: Las Cruces has been getting a lot of rain lately
There has been flooding in certain areas of Las Cruces. It has been raining a lot in the Las Cruces and El Paso area the last few weeks. I know the area gets a lot of rain this time of year but I have never seen anything like this year.

My house is fine. The grass in the backyard is just really green and really long.

Here are some pictures from Hatch which is about 35 miles north of Las Cruces.

Hatch was hit really hard and most people there don't have flood insurance. The village was closed completely a few days ago. It is bad because the people of Hatch don't have a lot of money. If you live in Hatch you either work for the city, work out in the fields picking cotton or chile, or work at a mom and pop grocery store.

This is a picture from Picacho Hills which is just west of Las Cruces.

I remember a few weeks ago driving by the NMSU campus the football practice field looked like a lake. I have never seen so much rain.

I guess it gives truth to that old joke about this area. Our average rainfall is about 8 inches a year. That is not very much is it? Well it is a lot if you are here on the day that it comes.

I like rain but a week without rain would be nice to dry off a little bit.
