I should have known better but I tuned in to Bill Meade's show to see if ETSU football would be the lead off story(as it should if he were doing his job correctly) but after all the commercials he lead off with ut football and all callers in the first half hour were about ut. Second half hour it was ut football/Fulmer/Ladyvols/ut/ut. An East Tennessee sports talk show should at least mention the local university athletics especially now that the football talk to starting to heat up again. Man, has it gotten that bad?

The reporter was on the news this evening on Channel 11. It was a good interview. I think they are trying to get it up on the bristol website as we speak.

We've had the discussion before, if you want to talk about it, call in. Bill won't do his show with any real format (unlike any other sports show in the state of Tennessee or nation for that matter), so to get him to talk about it you HAVE TO FORCE THE ISSUE. Otherwise, expect more talk about UT.

Actually, that's not true.

A host always generates his own callers. If you just say "The phone lines are open, give me a call and we'll talk about sports" nobody will call. They have no reason to.

Bill reads the sports news and generally it slants UT. His big thing this year is that we're all too hard on the Vols.

Which is laughable. Consider how Erik Ainge has gotten NO criticism for choking away the SEC Championship.

If LSU wins the National Title, Ainge should be given a ring with the Tigers.

Brian Smith is kicking their ass. It goes to show you that you need to hire journalists and not fans for media jobs- and if that means going out of town for the hire- so be it.

I guess the point I was trying to make was we should not have had to call in on this issue. He should lead off the show with it with no prompting whatsoever. We all realize the truth though and he will not put on anything about ETSU unless someone calls in and forces it. Frustrating to Buc fans.

The Vols do wonders for taking the community's focus away from the community.

What's wrong with 6 or 7,000 folks at a bball game? It wasn't that long ago that we averaged over 8,000 a game. I know, if you're under 30, that was forever ago. But it wasn't.

Maybe that's the problem with ETSU athletics. Maybe everyone in JC is looking for an excuse to not be any good. That's a whole lot easier than working to have a good program.

Let's just be like Lover. Let's just say we shouldn't be expected to win big games. Let's just be happy where we are. And when we dominate everyone in the ASun. Wait. No one notices the ASun. I forgot.

Well, when we win games against our bigtime opponents like Chattanooga and Marshall. Wait, weren't we always expected to beat Marshall a few years ago?

Anyway, I think we've gotten exactly what we deserved.

I just remember when the Bucs were winning and all Bill Meade could say is "Don't expect this every year."

Why do we look at ETSU success as a fluke? Why can't we think of ETSU success as something to build on and get better from?

Five years ago that was exactly what we expected from our basketball program. Take it to the "next level". Amazing how people have forgotten that.

Well I guess they did not say that the next level was "up."

Were we really ranked in BB once or I am just dreaming ?
