Fresno State is the top, smartest dog in the Western Athletic Conference.
The Bulldogs led the conference in the spring sports season with 72 all-academic athletes, half of whom came from track and field.
Fresno State's women's track team was represented by 19 of the athletes, and the men's team added 17. It was the sixth straight year the program set the academic standard on campus among spring sports.
To qualify for the WAC award, a student-athlete must have completed one academic year, have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and participated in at least 50% of the team's contests.
This was a record number of honorees for the Bulldogs since the WAC launched the program 11 years ago.
