Tim Tebow wins!
NEW YORK — Tim Tebow needed only two years of college to graduate to Heisman Trophy winner, putting the sophomore in a class by himself.

Florida's folk-hero quarterback with the rugged running style and magnetic personality won the Heisman on Saturday night to become the first sophomore or freshman to take college football's most prestigious award.

Since 1935, when Jay Berwanger of Chicago won the first Heisman, every winner has been a junior or senior — until Tebow.

Better put the entire state of Arkansas on suicide watch. They've been calling in the nationally syndicated sports radio shows this past week acting like anyone but McFadden for Heisman would be the crime of the century.

Leave Arkansas alone. They believe everyone is picking on them. Their Rival board says 03-yawn ESPN has it in for them. They can't understand why top coaches are not crawling to Fayetteville.

I thought McFadden was the best player in college football this year...BUT Tebow had the best season of any player. I don't think you could have gone wrong with either. Even the 3rd and 4th place guys had legit reasons for consideration. I'm just glad the guy from Hawaii at least got to go.

Congrats to Tebow....

Secondly, the whole system is screwed. I don't care what class you're in - let the best player win the award. Stop letting the writers decide what does and doesn't happen. Look at the demographics: Location, Writers, Wins vs Top 25, Team record, How your team stacks up w/o the so called "Best Player", Time Zones, ESPN cramming the 2-3 players in our brain skulls, uhhh - CRAP on your conference, with who was invited 2 years ago, tell me this, WHY WAS IT ONLY 3 guys invited to New York & by taking DW off the MEMPHIS TIGERS, what would the record be ??? Take the other players off their respective team & tell me if they still had a chance of winning.

How many people did DW pass in the record book in his JUNIOR & SENIOR SEASON?????05-mafia I'm with it being a SENIOR AWARD first then whatever class should come next. Don't discount the upperclassmen whom u have SHOUTED for so long to "stay in school" and the "money will be there" types & the "get your education" types also to give the WATERED DOWN award to a sophmore.

If you're that dayum good why'd your team lose 3 games??? Oh yeah, you're pretty valuable to your OWN team let alone being the so called GREATEST player in the country. It's all about hype. If draft status supposedly proves your value to a team, let's just see within the time beit next season if Tebow leaves early or he stays the 2 years WHERE he'll be drafted, well, let's just look at it 5 years from now.

Wow...normally, I'm right with you, but this time I'm in complete disagreement.

So you're saying Tebow shouldn't have won because he lost three games? How many did the Pigs lose? Who did Hawaii play? For that matter, who, other than Kansas and OU, did Mizzou play?

Tebow was the best player on the field in every game this season. McFaddon was sensational, but Tebow was better. Darron will prolly be the better pro, but this is a SEASON COLLEGIATE award. Tebow had the best season, thus won the award.

Tim Tebow was the best college football player this season. And he deserved the Heisman.

Tim Tebow was the best college football player this season. And he deserved the Heisman.

when you're a SYSTEM player, normally you shine, it takes that player that knows the "OTHER" things about the game that sets him apart from everyone else - i have no problem with you disagreeing with me - i'm taking nothing from TT but he wasn't the best player on the field this season. all the media hacks have done was YAP-YAP-YAP about Tebow, i'll say this, had Dennis Dixon NOT gone down - TT may not have been in NY or he would've been third in the voting - i'll say this again, when you're a SYSTEM player you're suppose to get the nod for awards (wink-wink).... tell you what, switch TT & DF on opposite teams, who'd have better stats....

i'm waiting on this one... TT had receivers so obviously his stats would be better, DF had NO QUATERBACK... Hmmm... I could care less about some so called KNOW-IT-ALL sayin CB of Hawaii didn't play anybody - he won against whomever was on his schedule and for arguement's sake - if CB didn't play this season because of an injury how do you think his team would fare....

All i'm saying is this, let's stop annointing the schools/players that we think should win the NC & Heisman "Just Because" we don't want anyone outside the 6BCs standing on that stage shaking hands with some dumb*** that has let the changing of the game pass him by. Look at the recent history of the heisman trophy winners and tell me that you ACTUALLY think that all in the previous 15-20 years DESERVE the trophy:
2006 Troy Smith Ohio State (Quarterback)
2005 Reggie Bush USC (Running Back)
2004 Matt Leinart USC (Quarterback)
2003 Jason White Oklahoma (Quarterback)
2002 Carson Palmer Southern California (Quarterback)
2001 Eric Crouch Nebraska (Quarterback)
2000 Chris Weinke Florida State (Quarterback)
1999 Ron Dayne Wisconsin (Running Back)
1998 Ricky Williams Texas (Running Back)
1997 Charles Woodson Michigan (Cornerback)
1996 Danny Wuerffel Florida (Quarterback)
1995 Eddie George Ohio State (Running Back)
1994 Rashaan Salaam Colorado (Running Back)
1993 Charlie Ward Florida State (Quarterback)
1992 Gino Torretta Miami (Quarterback)
1991 Desmond Howard Michigan (Wide Receiver)
1990 Ty Detmer Brigham Young (Quarterback)
1989 Andre Ware Houston (Quarterback)

Charlie Ward NEVER played a down in the NFL, what about G. Torretta, uhh Woodson won a ring with the packers but he won the trophy over P. Manning, and where's Ron Dayne now,?03-banghead Rashaan frekkin Salaam??? :chairshot:Chris Weinke?????????03-melodramatic Eric Crouch03-phew Jason White03-lmfao - last but not least....(DRUMROLL PLEASE)...... Danny Wuerffel??????????? Another system QB playing with 5-7 receivers & das all Spurrier did was let dat piece of nonsense of a QB FLING the ball in the air. All the announcets ever did was HYPE up the guy JUST BECAUSE he was at Florida. Look at this list and compare please:
1988 Barry Sanders Oklahoma State (Running Back)
1987 Tim Brown Notre Dame (Wide Receiver)
1986 Vinny Testaverde Miami (Quarterback)
1985 Bo Jackson Auburn (Running Back)

1984 Doug Flutie Boston College (Quarterback)
1983 Mike Rozier Nebraska (Running Back)
1982 Herschel Walker Georgia (Running Back)
1981 Marcus Allen Southern California (Running Back)
1980 George Rogers South Carolina (Running Back)
1979 Charles White Southern California (Running Back)
1978 Billy Sims Oklahoma (Running Back)
1977 Earl Campbell Texas (Running Back)
1976 Tony Dorsett Pittsburgh (Running Back)
1975 Archie Griffin Ohio State (Running Back)
1974 Archie Griffin Ohio State (Running Back)

1973 John Cappelletti Penn State (Running Back)
1972 Johnny Rodgers Nebraska (Wide Receiver)
1971 Pat Sullivan Auburn (Quarterback)
1970 Jim Plunkett Stanford (Quarterback)
1969 Steve Owens Oklahoma (Running Back)
1968 O.J. Simpson Southern California (Running Back)

how many of those guys on the second list DIDN'T deserve the award compared to the 1st list and who DIDN'T deserve to win. seems like apples to oranges....
