Quote:So you have multiple groups (I'm sure you can group fans similarly.):
Group #1 Schools that want to be here and trust the WAC's future.
Utah St, NMSU and Idaho
We've been through the worst of times and realize that the WAC couldn't be any worse than those bad times. In fact, I believe that the "newbies" think that since they've made it through those hard times, they're more capable than any other school of making a regional conference successfull.
Group #2 Schools that don't trust the WAC's stability.
SJSU, Fresno St, Hawaii
Group #3 A school that thinks they've conquered all up to this point. Why not reach higher?
Boise St
Group #4 We're just hanging on.
La Tech
Group #5 Where else are we going to go? We're too good for the likes of UNLV's conference.
Nevada

Good points, but as far as Group #2 goes, I think Fresno St and to a lesser extent Hawaii, greatly contributed to the lack of stability in this conference. THose schools (along with Boise St) openly campaigned for MWC membership (as opposed to behind the scenes)- and even after MWC's last expansion, there is the feel that they would like to bolt if given a chance.

I think with time and improvement of the rest of the WAC, that feeling may change, but there is still a certain amount of uneasiness as to the commitment of some to the WAC.

I agree that the WAC has a lot of upside, so I expect a long-term stable conference - but I think it could be even stronger with more commitment from the current (though not forever) top feeders.

FYI, it has come out that Hawaii turned down football-only membership into the WAC. (At least an unofficial invitation) Granted, all-sports membership may be different, but I'm at least glad to see our administration wasn't blinded by just getting into the MWC.

Quote:In saying that, I see this as a win-win situation. For me, the biggest competition is the BcS, not the WAC, CUSA, MAC or SBC. Rising tides lift all ships so anytime a non-BcS school beats a BcS opponent, we all benefit.

Yes and no. In the past, I'd be more likely to agree with you, but the way that the BCS is now set up--we are now all our own biggest enemy.

I don't post on the MWC board!
Boise State is part of the WAC and see no need to visit or post on the MWC board.

Not totally true, I think I have 3 posts over there, but I only visit a few times in a year.

I think this board will take off eventually, especially with the ejmpalle posts.
But I kind of like most of the fans we have here now. Nice friendly group that enjoys sharing information and discussing WAC sports.

I never questioned that you would venture over there to kiss butt. You've got more sense than that. You seem to ejoy the present state of your athletic programs more than the few others I'm referring to. There are certain Bronco fans who do, though they represent the minority of Bronco fans, though it seems that the minority is growing as one follows BroncoCountry this offseason. I'm yet to see a Wolfpack, Utag, New Mag, Spartan, Vandal or Bow fan go over there to kiss butt.

Well, I'm not sure that I'm the source of all controversy or entertainment. But I do try to get people to voice their opinions so that I can learn something outside of what my little mind can come up with.

btw, when I brought up this post, I was hoping that we could get people to come on this board and defend or brag up their school instead of going on the MWC board. This is the WAC and the majority of MWC fans aren't interested in hearing about WAC schools. And there are a lot of issues and concerns that fans in the WAC are concerned about. I'm gathering from a post I've started on BroncoCountry that many Bronco fans are concerned about having Idaho in the WAC. I'd bet that many Bulldog fans are concerned about having SJSU in the WAC.... I'd like those concerns to be brought up on a board such as this one, so that other WAC fans can understand those concerns and address them (hopefully in a respectfull manner)
