Chile Bowl - Approved
Now the WAC has 3 Bowl tie-ins again.

This is definitely good news for the conference.

Looks like all the Bowls that were up for approval...received approval.

Congradulations, the MAC also picked up bowl #3 with the International Bowl being certified. The MAC may also get a 4th bowl slot with the Birmingham Bowl. Great to see the less recognized conferences getting more postseason bids. 04-rock 04-jawdrop 04-bow 02-13-banana

Nice, real nice for the WAC
I am impressed with the NMSU contributions to the WAC in their short tenure. Hosting a bowl game AND the WAC basketball tournament.
The Aggies were a great addition to the WAC!!!

It is. NM (the state powers) agreed to the bowl for the benefit of both UNM and NMSU, so it benefits the MWC and the WAC.

Yes it is the Lobos that host, but without the Aggies in the WAC, the bowl would not have happened, so I give the credit to NMSU. Don't really want to give any credit to a MWC team!!!!

I think it works this way, but am not sure:
WAC #2, if #1 goes to MPC, and Hawai'i is eligible as #3 or lower.
WAC #3, if #1 is BCS eligible (or goes elsewhere), #2 goes to MPC, and Hawai'i eligible as #4 or lower; or if #1 goes to MPC and Hawai'i is #2.
WAC #4, if #1 is BCS eligible (or goes elsewhere, Hawai'i eligible as #2 or #3, and #2 or #3 goes to MPC.

MWC #4: unless NM or TCU are available as higher seeds, or TCU goes to Ft. Worth Bowl as #4, or someone like BYU is chosen as #4 by LVB, or other such scenario.
MWC #5: if #1 is BCS eligible

The Chile Bowl is 4th on the the pecking order for MWC seletion, however it doesn not necessarily mean it will be the #4 MWC team.

The current order is:
Las Vegas Bowl gets first selection
Poinsetta Bowl gets second
Forth Worth Bowl gets third
Albuqueque Chile Bowl gets fourth.

However if SDSU for instance is the #4 MWC team and say Colorado State or NM is the #2 team, SDSU will still go to the Poinsetta in San Diego and CSU or NM will go to Albuqueque. Same goes for TCU and the Fort Worth Bowl. But in all likelyhood it will be either New Mexico (if Bowl eligable) or the #4 MWC team (#5 if the MWC make the BCS).

I think a corporate sponsor should take over the New Mexico bowl. Gas-X or Beano should sponsor the bowl in honor of Lobo fans. lmfao

Thanks for dropping by, namssa. Since I won't be reading or posting on the MWC board any longer, I'll depend on you and billings to fill us in on the MWC. I look forward to the Chile Bowl. It should be fun. 04-rock
