RE: BCS Bowl selection
Illinois against ASU would be an entertaining game.

I do think ASU has done more to earn the BCS bid. If Illinois gets handled by USC I wonder what the Big Ten will be thinking? I agree that Michigan seems to be in a bad position against Florida. Every Big Ten team may have benefited from dropping down a notch. Illinois-Florida would have been an interesting match-up. USC probably is at least as tough as Florida.

Image wise the Big Ten may have been better off taking a pass this year. I don't think they have a strong case for a second bid.

The Big Ten will be thinking "We still made five million more dollars from the BCS that should have gone to the Pac-10" while their Chief Financial Officer is laughing all the way to the bank.

Maybe it shows how important TV sets are.

Too bad the vast majority of those TV sets will have permanently flipped the channel to "American Idol" or "Dancing With The Stars" even before USC surges ahead by a score somewhere in the neighborhood of 38-3 just before halftime. BCS bowls need to start working together to bring the viewing public an all-around better set of match-ups. The improved overall product would help net them whole lot more money in the long run.
