WAC BB tourney will be held in Las Cruces in 2007 and 2008.
Good news - no casinos - unless you want to drive into the mountains on the Apache Reservation (about 120 miles).

It was announced before the WAC tourny happened back in March. Las Cruces, Reno and I believe Salt Lake City were the finalists and they decided to go with Las Cruces because of the changes they are making to the Pan American Center there.

I didn't hear about SLC. I don't mind going to Logan, but SLC isn't a WAC city. Let's keep WAC tourney's in WAC cities.

If the bid is competitive, then I actually prefer to not have it in a WAC city. I want as neutral of a court as possible.

well if your into big cities then your not going to like it. Cruces is more of
out door type place, they have a one layer mall which aint big but it gets the job done, as for Night Life, there really ain one, I've been to cruces and it almost seems dead. They do have a few clubs, It's a nice quiet place, you can go hiking near by and the weather is great. El paso being 30 mins away has mroe to offer as in night life, either way Cruces has some great restaurants like Roberto's i'm sure the people from cruces can share a whole lot more than I can.

Several sports bars, lots to do in nearby Old Mesilla...restaurants, shops, bars; good barbeque and Mexican food in town, several night spots (not spectacular), great swimming and golfing weather and four courses, White Sands close by, casino at Sunland Park 35 miles, raunchy night life for those so inclined in El Paso and Juarez 40 miles away, hangin' on campus under a big shade tree watchin' the halter tops go by...
