I've seen both. We're averaging a championship every [somewhere between five and six] years.

1975. Central moved up to D1A right after the 1974 Div II Championship.

Quick story, at one of the CMU golf outings, I was told a story about how when CMU wanted to move from Div II to Div 1, and play in the MAC, Western Michigan's administrators (WMU was already in the MAC) wanted to block Central's move to D1a and the MAC. Western didn't want CMU in the MAC. Deromedi (who was an assistant on CMU's team at the time and eventually made Head Coach in 1978), never forgot that WMU made it so difficult for CMU to move its football program to D1 that he took it out on WMU each year he was Head Coach.

Just another reason for the CMU/WMU rivalry being so great.

!975. I think we announced our intention to join in 75 in 1972. We won the Div II national championship our final yr in Div II in 1974.

i think we now have as many conference championships in two years as western does their entire history in the MAC. oh wait, why should we be quiet :rock:and did I say
