RE: Cin accepts Pizza bowl
I understand their dissapointment they deserved a better match up and Bowl. But just like I would had been dissapointed had USF landed there again I would still have gone and supported my team for having a successful season.
Remember Cincy should end 10-3 and ranked in top 20 and that would be a good way to set up next years run.

Like 10-2, #12 Rutgers last year, 9-3, #23 Cincinnati is getting completely screwed this year. They had a great season and deserve better than the PapaJohns.com Bowl.

Yep, Rutgers really got shafted last year, and this year for that matter. We've got to get this bowl situation improved pronto or its going to really get ugly next year.

Les Miles granted permission to talk to Michigan after the SEC title game.

Good, I understand it's not ideal bowl game you were looking for. you can still get your boy's together, weather warm, beers cold. So Miss is going to show alot of intrest in this game. If you want to have good time in Bir, you can.

No it's not ideal and it is amazing that the 3rd place team in the Big East gets to play a 6th place team from CUSA. I'm glad UC got invited to the Big East and hope that the next round of bowl negotiations go much better because the current line up is sad.

What really stinks is that now the detailss are coming out and the reason UCONN is going to Charlotte is that they had to pay back a favor from 2004 when they wanted BC over UConn since they were going to the ACC etc. When will Cincy get the return favor...What political bull!

UC deserves to play in a bowl against a BCS team, ranked 20th with 3 to 4 wins agiants Top 20 teams and beat the others head to head.
I hope justice is served! See you in Birmingham!

RE: Cin accepts Pizza bowl
I think a lot of C-USA fans are just as confused as to how this happened. It looks like all the upsets and unusual parity of this season will result in a lot of mismatched bowl games.

Our league champ may end up playing a 6-6 Alabama who lost to La-Monroe, while our weakest bowl eligible team, while undergoing a coaching change, will have to play against a 9-3 #20 Cincinnati.

Taking a quick look at the bowl projections at SI.com (link), if things pan out this way I would think the Big East would be heavily favored in 3 of your 5 bowl games.

Rutgers should be able to handle Ball St. easily, and Oregon has fallen apart since losing Dixon and will not be able to score against that crazy defense at USF.

As for the other two, I think Wake Forest vs UConn will be a fun game to watch. Both have gone from irrelevance just a few years ago to contenders for their conference titles. Then there is WVU, which the whole nation will be using to tell whether Mizzou has been a real contender or a pretender all season. Hopefully they make it and we don't have to watch Ohio State fail again this year.

In any case, I will of course be rooting for whoever the Big East is playing against. 05-stirthepot

... jk, good luck to all!

From Tebixan's SI.com link

Quote:Miami of Ohio (6-6) is in an unusual position. The RedHawks won their division and are facing Central Michigan in the MAC championship game this weekend; however if they lose, they won't be bowl eligible. The conference is reportedly appealing to the NCAA for a waiver, though the league has enough eligible teams to fill its three spots either way.

I mentioned this possibility a few weeks back in a thread to show just how down the MAC is from earlier this decade when they had NFL quality QB's in the league. A team in your title game won't be bowl eligible if they lose. Wow. I hope the NCAA doesn't grant the waiver.

Big East still rocks. Hope Trangehese has a pair when negotiating.

Well, you could beat it if you weren't heading to Birmingham.

Only if I was heading to Morgantown to watch UC - WVU, then Huggs after the football game.04-rock
Tell you what USF and Cincy probably gave WVU a better game than the soon to be NC game. I really think WVU wins it all02-13-banana

I hope Cinci doesn't take the game lightly. With wins over Pitt and Louiville they would be in the BCS. A good solid win will set up next year.

Fighting about who gets the Tire Bowl? Seems kind of strange. I'll add to the mantra that the BE needs better bowls.
