"If we were going strictly on travel, we probably would have taken Rutgers"
A quote from the Meineke folks...

"If we were going strictly on travel, we probably would have taken Rutgers," Webb said. "Outside of West Virginia, they're probably the second-best traveling team in the Big East. Cincinnati, one of these days, may come close to that and eclipse it. UConn has a good sports tradition with their soccer program and with their men's and women's basketball programs and have received a lot of community support."

I guess RU would be going to the meineke if we had taken care of buissness at one of three BE games we lost. There is always next year. The 3 Big East teams I want to beat the most next year are WVU Cincy and Uconn. WVU since we haven't beaten them since the stone ages. Cincy cause they ruined our season last year and beat us at home by 5 points this year. Uconn cause they are RU's unofficial rival.

And Louisville travels well also. Rutgers deserves better that the International. Glad we got Rutger at home next year.

RU better keep up with the traveling. UCONN did not have a chance to prove it can travel yet since we only had one bowl. Just keep in mind 3 or 4 years ago RU had no football fans so things have changed in a big way. UL and WVU are good traveling teams. RU is joining that list. UCONN will be there. I hope USF can step it up and prove people they can bring some fans.

As for RU vs. UCONN next year, don't count on a victory yet since we got everyone back and our players will be one year older. BTW. if they really wanted RU, they would have at least waited until RU done playing this weekend.

You won't be if Demetrious Jones is half as good as everyone says he is.

Doesn't he have to sit out for a year before he can play since he played in the first game of the season.

What are you talking about 3 or 4 years ago RU had no football fans? Wow talking out of your ass much? 4 years ago 2003 Ru was averaging about 29,000 attendance and in 2004 Ru was averaging 31,000......considering in Uconn's best season ever you guys are raking in 38,000 7,000 more then in RU's 2004 season I wouldn't say RU had "no football fans"

Also I never stated that the Meineke really wanted RU I don't see where you are getting that from. What I did say is the Meineke claimed if they were going on only travel they would have picked RU. Obviously that is not the only thing that went into their consideration. Had to do with overall record and BE record as well as attendance.

UC starts so late that he was able to enroll in classes for fall. That will take care of his sit-out year.

Hopefully...

RE: "If we were going strictly on travel, we probably would have taken Rutgers"
The hysterical overreactions and the unwarranted slamming of fellow Big East schools have got to stop. We are all in this together. The bowls we have suck now and will continue to suck until 2009. Writing bad things about other schools on message boards will not change the way bowls make their decisions. The only thing fans can do is go to whatever bowls their teams play in, boost the league's travel reputation, and hope that it leads to a better bowl alignment in 2010.
