Good.

The article states that when their contracts end that is when schools can no longer sell alcohol but what is ironic Fresno State does not run the Save Mart Center but SMG does so alcohol can still be served.

They clearly did not close up the lose ends on this.

Fresno State Banning Alcohol at Sporting Events...

Crowd control a determining factor.

03-idea Interesting. Since Spartan Stadium is run by Spartan Shops, which is only tangentially connected to the university through the President, would the ban apply to Spartan? I know the plans are to move the operation of Spartan Stadium back to the athletics department but this may change those dynamics. On the other hand, if the President does continue to allow the sales of alcohol at Spartan as run by Spartan Shops after this CSU clear statement and a problem does develop, the President's butt will be on the line.

SDSU
03-idea The article refers to alcohol sales at SJSU and CSU Fresno. Does that mean that SDSU did not allow alcohol sales? Anyone know?

FWIW
All California schools did not ban alcohol sales. This was the CSU system. It has no impact on the University of California system or the community colleges.

Alcohol ban may not work
Does anyone here really think that banning alcohol will be effective? I see the fans bringing hard booze into the games instead of having a beer. If a fan wants to drink at the game, they will find a way. Now there will be less controls. :

I think serving alcohol at games is a good thing and will help attendance. It will also bring in a lot of money. At the Sun Bowl this year beer was 6 bucks a can. That would bring in a lot of extra money for any school.

If the school is worried about negative things like people driving home drunk then I say just stop serving beer at halftime or something to let people sober up.
