Memphis and kind of Tiger Related
The "not in the top 100" thread got me thinking about the things I like about Memphis. Here are a few of mine to get things started. Feel free to add your own but Neg post need to go to the smack board. 01-lauramac2

Home of the Tigers.
Four real seasons.
Plenty of Great Water.
Great Springs and Falls.
MISS River.
Perfect size.
Great location. (easy to get to mountains or gulf or coast)
Friendly people. Generous people.
Great music roots.
Great BBQ.
Plenty of trees.
You can grow anything here.
Great diversity.
Inexpensive.

Things I miss:

Beale Street
AutoZone Park
Sunsets on Old Man River
Lolo's Table
Tiger football games (I can catch most basketball games on TV)
Highpoint Church

That's enough...my eyes are starting to sweat

Good ones Randy. How about singing Old Man River at the Sunset Symphony with James Hyder? A few years back but entrenched in my memory.

Really? I was born and raised there and moved out in 2004, and I have never experienced this. Living in Colorado now and now I know what it's like to have 4 seasons. I always thought that Spring, and I use it lightly, in Memphis lasted about a week and was still in the 80's, and Fall isn't much better.

oh, man....that's a great one!

some others:

-the university of memphis, in general.
-a vibrant music & arts community that continues to thrive, sometimes in spite of itself.
-the smell of the wonder bread factory when driving downtown in the afternoon
-having a margarita on the cafe ole' patio on a warm evening
-growing location for feature films
-memphis in may, whether or not you attend all (or any of) the events...many large cities don't put on a festival of that magnitude.
-great, locally-owned restaurants
-active neighborhoods & neighborhood associations working to improve their little corner of the area
-fedex, st. jude, international paper, guardsmark, autozone, etc.
-the fact that memphians will continue to work to make their city improve, in spite of all the bad things you can say about it!

Exactly my thoughts. I was going to ask if what he/she experiences in Memphis during Nov to Mar was considered "winter".

But it is only truly effective when the MATAlacs are in that lane. One other thing I miss are the decorations on the light poles down Poplar during the holiday seasons. I am not sure why, but it always made me smile. I also kind of miss Union ave lanes changing directions in the middle of the day. The best was when you were in a lane when the light suddenly changed and you are now going the wrong way.

Too bad you didn't live here this year! Besides this is about Memphis not Colorado. Start your own thread about other places if you want to but this is a Memphis Lovefest thank you!

Its called hijacking a thread with negative vibes.
I enjoy Memphis mild winters rather than being fighting snow for months. Memphis had a great spring this year and we are enjoying a nice fall.

Why not leave it at that rather than trying to find something wrong with whate others say is good?

Well, there are a few good things about Memphis but when you weigh all the negatives against the positives mentioned.......there are plenty of places that match the good but without the negatives. Memphis is probably a good place to visit but a crumby place to raise a family. Before I take a beating I have lived her my whole life; I guess the only reason I haven't left is familiarity--friends, family and THE TIGERS.

A man once told me that where a person lives is all what they make it. Most people that are unhappy where they live currently are going to be that way even if they move to a new town.
