this is the greatest thing in the history of the world. sling box has contributed more to western civilization than anything the greeks or romans ever did. whenever i leave town or go to a game, i can now take my satellite package with me.

i have to go to a wedding in louisville this weekend and my parents don't have directv, but it doesn't matter. i have sling box, and i'm not missing a damn thing!!

Yes, assuming that game is available in Cincy on an analog channel I also have a Sling client for my Treo, and it works great.

RE: ot: sling box
yes.

the way it works is that it plugs the cable box/satellite receiver into the internet. when you watch it on the computer and change the channels, you're literally changing the channels on your tv back home. what you can't do is watch something on the internet while someone else watches something different back at your house, because if either person changed the channel, it would change it for both of you.

I guess I was thinking of cable exclusively, since currently you do not need a set top to descramble signals unless they are on a digital tier. The slingbox can be plugged directly into the cable via a splitter and you can then change channels independently of the other set tops and connections at the Slingbox's location. I guess this would not be the case with satellite.

That is exactly what I do here in Singapore. I get more games now than when I lived in the States.

I've wanted one of these for a while. Is there an OS X version yet? What is the cost? Does it work with digital cable?
