I just read an article in the DAYTON DAILY NEWS today about the Horizon League network.

How nice would it be to be able to watch any MAC game of interest FOR FREE!
I guess that's expecting a lot. After all, we're only the MAC. How can we expect to be at a level of conferences like the Horizon? I'm sure that the dozens of people who pay $8.95 per game at All-MAC Access makes up for it.

Also, I looked for a preview of the game or even a season preview for the D-M Titans and there is NOTHING in either Detroit paper--the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press--about them at all. Zero coverage. That's brutal when you're the only D-I basketball team in town. All the coverage was UM or MSU.

The MAC is in the same place we always are for basketball. We surrender the Fox exposure to the A10 and Horizon, leave bigger contracts such as ESPN pretty much up to the Universities, dilute programs such as Bracket Busters that are handed to us by insisting that everyone prticipate regardless of performance, don't enforce allegedly established scheduling standards thereby diluting everyone's ultimate SOS, and do little or no organized creative scheduling with other mid majors.

This parade of neglect will all come to a peak in the second week of March with the annual outrage about being a one bid league. The Commissioner will be quoted in mid March promosing to learn from the Selection Committee decisions and study other mid majors to understand how they get multiple bids. The March drama will be followed by squandering the off season by doing apparently nothing.

1) Generally, they don't cover hoops games until the morning of the game.

2) On weekends, the Free Press and News alternate covering sports, one on Saturday, the other on Sunday. I forget who covers it tomorrow. You will need to check both sites.

3) I can't belive that the MAC wants you guys to pay to watch internet games. Of course, that is probably the price of being in a "bigger" conference.

Based upon first impressions, the Horizon League Network is nicer than anything the MAC offers for any sport.

Thanks for the info and for stopping by. Both papers have a little blurb today focusing on Cotton's reinstatement to the team and not much else.
You could probably give us a real preview of the Titans if you have the time.

The Horizon will continue to be the better hoops conference as they dont WASTE $$$$ on pipe dreams of big time football.

Our strength is at the G as we have Cotton and Goode. Both capable of scoring in bunches. We also have a quick small PG sophomore (Payne) who is exciting to watch.

We graduated the best big man in the conference last year, so we are really hurting at C.

We have a new JUCO transfer at the 4, so I don't know how good he is yet.

Our 3 can be a pretty good mix of speed and athleticism (Stephens), or some guys that shoot from further away (Everingham, Shuma)

Outside of Cotton, Goode and Everingham, we are still a young team.

Supposedly, we are going to an up-tempo style of defense this year, so it will be interesting to watch.

I would expect a close game if we can play defense. Otherwise, could be a blowout by KSU.

Good luck trying to watch it over the internet. I guess some games are better that others.

What is the word on Kent State this year?

We're pretty excited about this season. All 5 starters back, a former top 50 recruit transfer (Rashad Woods) from DePaul, a very athletic team with an emphasis on team defense, harassing the ball, denying good opportunities in the paint. If the game goes our way, we will have you off balance and flustered. If you can hit some 3's and deny us down low consistently, not letting us get multiple chances, things could go your way. We had some horrible FT shooting exhibitions last season--another key for us this year. We're not really very tall inside, but we have some leapers and some strong guys who are very efficient on the glass.
Can't wait for the season to start!!

This feed is bush league. plays 2 seconds and freezes for 2 minutes...

well from what I can tell when I actually get a vid feed it looks like we're wearing black Uni's...when did we get these?
