Is the honeymoon still on?
Is the honeymoon still on for the new Big East?

Because Cincinnati has now lost two straight games I don't see any chance of the bearcats winning the conference and contending for a national championship. Although one side of me would like to see them continue to win, I am torn over that sentiment versus my desire to see a Big East team finish in the top five and possibly be in national championship contention should any team ahead of them fall.

As a result, and because of what transpired this past weekend, I am hoping that West Virginia wins out. I know UConn is undefeated in conference play. However, I don't think the voters would give UConn a chance at a national championship game should the top teams stumble. On the other hand, the pollsters would put West Virginia in the national championshp game.

What do you think? Is the honeymoon still on? Are we still rooting for the best Big East team to win out and make it to the national championship game?

I will never put another team ahead of the Bearcats when they are playing. I do not want WVU to win out. I want them to lose to UC.

I don't care if UC loses the next 2 games.

I will always root for UC to win.

If WVU is good enough to get to the national championship game they will do it.

WVU will win out. The BEast heirarchy is secure. 04-rock

UC will get their chance someday, but not so soon.

Sorry, you're on an island with this one. No way I'd ever root against my own team. On the other hand, if WVU beats us, they do get my best wishes (after I calm down of course 03-lmfao).

I will never cheer for another team against my Cards. But when they do lose, I will be happy for the success of the other teams. Does that make sense?

Gotta root for your team...yes, we want the conference to do well but we are doing well....the depth this year is great.

But to want UC to lose to help WVA or UCONN is nuts....go Cats!

Always gotta root for your home team no matter what the circumstances, but it's a tough situation for the BE IMO because if we send one very good team to the BCS, the biased pollsters will still cry that the rest of the BE is too weak to put that team in the BCS title game. At the moment I still see WVU as the strongest overall team in this conference but even if they run the table now, the pollsters could still be biased against them especially with that one loss to USF. (Although with the parity in college football this year they DO have a shot.)

Even now we're still fighting for respect as a conference. 01-wingedeagle

I hear you Bugsy, but really, who cares? The biased media and "traditionalist" crapheads can keep saying what they want. If this conference keeps winning like it has, they'll have less and less to say about it with every passing year.

I hope so. I can see UC losing three more games including those against USF, WVA and UConn. On the other hand, I can see WVA winning out.

I was at the UC-Louisville game. The Cats gave that game to the Cards. And, they followed it up with another gift package to the lowly Pitt Panthers.

I don't see UC turning it around this season. However, I could be wrong.

I don't think the bias on TV is as bad as last year. I don't hear nearly as much bad mouthing the BEast by the talking heads as last season. I hear more positive things as a matter of fact. That may not translate over into the poles yet. But I think things are getting better. That's what winning will do for you, no matter what conference you are in.

Excellent point Army Mike, and also, we're not seeing any Sunday nighters, and fewer Friday nighters. If it takes baby steps, that's the hand we're dealt.
