HOOPS FOR 2007/2008
Anyone see the basketball intra squad game last night? Impressions? Looks like Dobbins could have a good year in the post!

Hard to judge with a 20 min running clock and players shuttling in and out. Impressions?

Anyone have any predictions for the upcoming season? Some people still think we are a year away. I personally look for 14-15 W's this season and with a little luck perhaps 16-17. 2 years from now I looke for 20+ wins. Just my opinion! Anyone else care to speculate?

EMU HOOPS ARE HERE!

I agree that Dobbins looked very strong in the middle. Dodd also had a nice hook shot to go along with some other buckets. Farrow I also thought had some nice plays. The perimeter shooting was not good yesterday but you expect that to come around.

Where's Stringemwell I also would be interested in his comments. Didn't see the green and white anybody have any input/impressions. Denis Rachwal seems to love Dobbins..is he Dobbins? remember 1 player does not a team make ....a team becomes winners! I did enjoy the football game though

Thanks...so we have established Dobbins looks good. What about my favourite MEDLOCK...how did he look especially after his injury..I know its only a glorified scrimmage...does he still run the team well...he"s my main man!!

Fanasonic brings up a good point. I don't care how they look during pre-season as long as they all stay healthy. EMU has been bitten by key injuries in the past year (Dobs, Meds, B2, Skip). Gotta stay healthy and the performance will take care of itself.

That said, the player I'm most interested in is Dodd. They'll need him to step up with the thin frontcourt.

RE: HOOPS FOR 2007/2008
I'm not Dobbins but he appears to be heading for a good year, we'll need him. I would expect Dodd to step up as well. He has some offensive moves and shoots well within 15-16 feet. Needs to play aggressively and rebound the ball. Matthews is tough inside but plays out of control at times and is limited offensively in my opinion. Look for Farrow to help on the front line, he does a lot of things, a solid player.

Backcourt should be alright with Medlock and Bunkley and Gay. Like Farris also, he sees the court well,. had a couple of nice assists the other night. Frazier might be redshirted but played well the other night, can handle and shoot the three.

I know I am rambling but am looking forward to the season with great anticipation.

With our recruiting done for this fall, EMU CAN NOW CONCENTRATE ON A VERY GOOD JUNIOR CLASS OF MICHIGAN PREPS

RE: HOOPS FOR 2007/2008
Where did Farrow play? Are we expecting him to play the 4 in a smaller lineup, or is he a wing?

I would have given anything to be there on saturday.

Before Bowdry's injury, i would have agreed with Dennis' prediction of 14-15 wins. Now, i'm a little more nervous about the season.

It looks like Rams is also excited about Dobbins.

Interesting how big men develop.

Dennis would send me newspaper clips from his h.s. games and quite frankly they were not impressive.

Dobbins actually looked like a project and nothing like what Rams was quoted in the Echo as.

not to say dobbins is great because i wouldn't know, i havnt seen him. but if i've heard first hand, and a few others (not to mention rams and the echo writer) say he looks good ill take that.

he did get a lot of attention i remember at the mac tournament last year. hope he keeps it up!

Iceman,

Do remember that my comments were about Dobbins as a high school player.

It was meant to make a point about how difficult it is to judge high school big men whose surname isn't Oden. [/b]

RE: HOOPS FOR 2007/2008
The keys I think are:

A healthy Medlock without saying. One wonders what last year might have been had Medlock not broken his foot.

Development of Dobbins. I like having Matthews as an additional option.

I agree that Dodd, Gay, Cooper, Farrow and maybe one other front court guy need to pick up the slack of losing Bowdry and that's going to be difficult.

RE: HOOPS FOR 2007/2008
and my point is that it seems he is less of a project than you implied. and im not sold that he was a project to begin with-- he was honorable mention all-mcdonalds team and one of the top players in ohio by two recruiting sources.

just saying, i like this kid and wish i could see him play. maybe when i come visit!
