Maturation of UCONN
I guess it is pissing off all the BE fans. I guess the little brother is finally growing up and now beating the big brother. UCONN is no longer an easy win. Many still think we are a fraud and we got lucky. Scan most of the BE boards and you see the same thing.

Well I got news for rest of the BE, next year's UCONN team will be even better than this year's version since we only graduate 4 out of 22.

I hope everyone keep doubting us and think they gonna blow us out.

Pitt fans said they gonna blow us out..
UL fans said they gonna smoke us...
USF fans (only a few) came over and said they would blow us out 49-10..
RU fans next?

Let's see how we do against RU next week. Most Eers fan think RU gonna stump us. It will be pretty funny after that game.

Temple fans never showed up. I guess they did not think they got a chance :)

BTW, WVU fans already stating we are a fraud and UCONN would lose by 3 TDs.

RE: Maturation of UCONN
I know you are excited about the game and season that UConn up to this point. But the facts are that West Virginia is the BEST Big East team. They are capable of playing just as god on the road as well as on the road..
You are going to find out that teams like UConn and USF while up and comming play a LOT different at home than on the road. Until both our teams learn to bring same energy to every game it will be tough to win on the road.

Why are we pissed off? I know you are excited but until you actually do something like win the conference and win your BCS Bowl game then the people in Louisville and Morgantown will be impressed. Until then just chill and enjoy your season.

BTW, most Louisville fans are pissed off at your coach giving Taylor the game ball and that is pretty much it. It shows lack of character on his part.

Hell is anything we are much more pissed off at Steve Krapthorpe and his idiot offenSIVE Coordinator Charlie Stubbs then anything UConn has done.

Count me as one who doesn't automatically write in a "W" vs. UConn, and I sure as hell hope our team isn't either. I think since we're at home, we have a big advantage, but we gotta play that's for damn sure.

Reading your board it seems some of your fans can't get over the fact we actually won some games. It seems if we win the BE, then BE gonna lose respect blah blah blah. Perhaps UL fans need to be pissed how a team that went from winning the Orange Bowl to losing to UTAH and CUSE on national TV. That probably did way more damage to the BE reputation than UCONN winning.

As for Cincy fans saying UCONN will lose, perhaps we will perhaps we won't . I picked UCONN to go 8-4 this year while many people here picked us to go 4-8. Well, let's just say I am enjoying this season and I am glad we finally got a good team that can compete with anyone.

I don't think the Huskies are a fraud. A win against WVU would be a tall order, but I certainly think UCONN is capable.

RE: Maturation of UCONN
Great post from a poster on the UCONN board:

Our disadvantages:

* No highly regarded recruits
* We don't have the talent to keep up with RU (or USF or UL)
* not in a football state
* We are slow. Just ask all the teams who lose to us.

Our advantages:

* We control the weather gods
* The refs like us.
* The security guards and stadium staff are strategically placed around the field to obstruct camera angles and referees at inopportune moments.

1. Unfortunately we have idiots on the Rivals board. Now if you could listen to the local radio shows they are about to throw Krapthorpe and his OC into the Ohio River. There is much more anger about what you posted above then whether UConn is legit or not.

2. IF anything our loses to Utah and Syracuse has killed our rep NOT the BIG EAST. The BIG EAST will be fine simply because of USF and West Virginia have decent reps.

I'm glad U Conn has arrived. It makes the Conference that much stronger. Although I was a little skeptical at first, you guys have proved alot of us wrong. BUT! Nov. 24th @ Morgantown COULD possibly be for all the marbles in the Big East and the BCS bid. I just wouldn't get too cocky yet, WVU or U Conn have yet to play Cincy.

I'm willing to bet right now Petrino wishes he never left Louisville rather than inherit that mess in Atlanta.

Its a long season and many things can still happen. We have to beat RU this week. I don't think you will find any UCONN fan that are cocky. If anything, most of us are pleasantly surprised since we ourselves never expected this.

I watched enough football to know we got a good team from the 1st game of the season (go back and read some of my posts), I am just glad I am right. UCONN is a true team in every sense and I hope we stay hungry for rest of the season. If we end up playing WVU for the BE title, that would be sweet but WVU to me is still the best team in the BE as I always have stated from day 1. If WVU beat UCONN, I hope Eers end up in the national championship game. To me WVU is one of the top 2 teams in the entire country. I would love to see a Oregon/WVU championship or WVU/OSU championship game.

I'm glad that Uconn is doing well. I really am, which is hard for a Syracuse fan. It helps to streghtnen the BE. But maybe you can show a little more class because you are winning. Act like you have been there before. Calling out the BE fans on this board is very poor taste. Especially when the things that you acuse BE fans of saying, haven't been said on this board. Maybe you can take your frustrations out on the boards that you have the problem with. That would be a good idea.03-idea
BTW, Congratulations on a very, very solid win over USF. It was a very exciting game. I enjoyed it, even though I was rooting for USF, because they were the team that had the best ooc wins.

It is called smack. You see it all the time on other boards. You don't see it often here but you do occasionally. If you feel the need to defend Connecticut on BBS I think the smack board would work better.

I think it is/was rational to have a wait and see attitude with Connecticut. The Huskies haven't done too much over the last few years but the believers are slowly coming around. The more you win the more respect you will get. Of course, if you drop a few games then you will still be looked at as a good team among many good teams in the BE.

I guarantee that the majority of WVU fans will not be taking UConn lightly. They will think they will win of course and talk smack but that's the way it goes. You only have to go back to last year's USF game to see that they will need to be at their best. Overconfidence could be deadly.
