Romby Bryant signs Free Agent deal with Arizona Reply

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Former University of Tulsa receiver Romby Bryant was not selected during the 2004 NFL draft, but has agreed to a free-agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals.

Bryant did not immediately return a Sunday telephone message, but he got a nice offer from the Cardinals, according to TU coach Steve Kragthorpe, a former Buffalo Bills assistant coach. Kragthorpe said Bryant's deal is "a lot better than what we would have given a free agent in Buffalo."

One reason Bryant was considered a pro prospect was because of his speed. He averaged a team-best 15.9 yards per catch last season while helping the Golden Hurricane go 8-5 and reach the Humanitarian Bowl.

He caught 47 passes for a team-high 748 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior, earning second-team All-WAC honors.

Bryant is an Oklahoma City native who played at Western Heights High School. He spent two seasons at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M before transferring to TU.

I was surprised he didn't get drafted in one of the later rounds. Arizona is going to be tough for Romby, since they have that one rookie who caught 100 balls last year and they drafted Larry Fitzgerald.
