The Rainbows will return 10 out of the 11 starters on offense and will have one of the strongest offensive lines in recent history. Hopefully everyone will stay healthy, smash Detmers record and *prays* end the season 12-1 with a bowl victory! Okay, please be nice everyone! hehe

Scott

Scott, have you been smoking the Maui Wowee? Chris botez has a better chance of taking second in the Heisman race! As far as the 12-1 record, I can live with that, noticed you accounted for a loss from Boise. But Chang will break the career yardage record, which is impressive, although, had he played in a different system-there is almost no way he would break that record.

I think he's been out in that Hawaii sun too long.
No way on earth will Hawaii finish with only one loss next season. First off Hawaii starts off the Conference schedule AT Rice (a very difficult place to win), and that will be only Hawaii's second game of the season (Sep 18th). The only game Hawaii has prior to that Rice road game is their warmup game against Florida Atlantic on Sep. 4th. It will be very difficult for the Hawaii team to win AT Rice that early in the season, even tho they will have two weeks to get ready for it.
Hawaii also has road games AT Boise State (where they were stomped the last time they were there) and AT Fresno State (where they have always had a difficult time winning).
PLUS they have games scheduled against Northwestern and Michigan State. Northwestern they could beat, but Michigan State.......don't think so. At best Hawaii will finish next season three losses.
On offense they lost starting WR Jeremiah Cockeran and Clifton Herbert at WR (projected to be a starter in pre-season last fall and played in 13 games last season) and Shayne Kajioka at OG, as well as Jason Whieldon at QB (he started several games last season).
However, what will really hurt Hawaii next season will be the losses they have on defense. They lost ALL FOUR of their starters on their Def. line and SIX of the eight two-deep players on that same D-line. They also lost TWO of their three starting linebackers AND they also lost THREE of their four starters in the secondary and FOUR of the eight two-deep players in their secondary from last season.
The Hawaii offense will be able to move the chains again next fall and they will put up lots of points I'm sure, but their defense will give up just as many (if not more).
P.S. Nice photo tho, Scott. MORE of that would be welcome I'm sure.

To tell you the truth, it was the game that I counted as a loss. I hate when we have to play on that blue turf! It's cursed! hehe

I do agree that our defense will be a big question mark and will need a game or two to develop some chemistry. Yes, to go up against the triple option on the road is tough, especially early in the season. I don’t think that it would make a difference if it was Fla. Atlantic or Florida Gators, both of those teams wouldn’t prepare us for Rice. The defense won't be in as bad shape as most would expect, mainly because of the defense type of platoon defense that they ran last year. This gave a lot of PT to the second and third string.
My main point is that the offense is practically all back and has proven players along with very talented recruits to join them. They will outscore every team they meet next year! :D hehe
What's your prediction on Boise St's record next year?

Scott

Hawaii's defense will be just fine, I think. JJ is alot like Hawk as far as being able to bring in recruits that make it possible to reload. The amount of spots tht Hawaii has to fill on defense is very similiar to the amount of spots that BSU has to fill on offense. Not that big of a deal when you have players that are just as talented to fill those spots. I think that Hawaii could end up beating Northwestern and Michigan State.
As far as predicting BSU's record this year-12-0! Not going to be easy, but Hawk has everyones expectations high!!
