RE: Favorite Prince Mongo Memory or Story?
1977 or 78.
He was just Mongo then and called everybody "Wolf."
We were a group of high school sophomores or so who frequented the pizza joint on Highland practically every weekend for pitchers and pizza.
Walk-A-Thon comes around and Mongo invites us over to his house on East Moreland to swim. Time to leave and Mongo gathers everybody in his yellow vehicle I believe was called a Thing--kind fo a cross between a basic Jeep and a Volkswagon bug. He drives us to all of the checkpoints to get our plege sheets stamped so we could collect our money, and brought us back to the house and left us there to enjoy, which we most certainly did.

Someone told me he eventually drove the Thing in to the lake at Audobon Park on bet that it would float. It did not.
He did drive it up the steps at CBHS and down two sets of steps in to the courtyard during a pep rally. The Brothers were less than pleased, but the students roared.[/align]

Many years later he took me upstairs in the building that I think he owned next to the Planet. Third floor--not open to the public--had blackjack and poker tables. He never actually said what they were there for, but it wasn't for storage.
