That's a regurg of an article that appeared in the Orlando Sentinal. The Orlando paper is the only one to go on record saying that UTEP is the favorite... not even the El Paso paper is saying that. The Dallas Morning News leans the other way, toward La Tech being the favorite. So I wouldn't get too excited either way.

Bottom line: it's all speculation at this point. Nobody knows for sure.

One day its Tech, one day its Utep. After reading all the articles out there, I can only make one conclusion. Nobody knows a damn thing. :bang: One paper says this, another that. Gives you a whole lot of faith in what the papers tell you, huh? The media seem to be like the cusa board in some respects, just spouting off whatever comes to mind. If its true or not doesnt really seem to matter.

:biggun: the media

From a WAC perspective, I would rather lose LaTech. UTEP fits geographically and has a long tradition in the WAC. The sad thing in college sports is that tradition is often sacrificed sacrificed for perceived profit of a different conference.

Your take broncobob, would of course make the most sense. But as we all know logic and reason really have no place here do they. :D On another note, I enjoyed our relationships with the wac teams, esp. boise. If it was still possible for us to stay in the wac, most tech fans would be just fine with that. Its just that its killing us on the $ side.

I like the LaTech rivalry with the Broncos, but I would have to also choose UTEP over LaTech to remain in the West.

The Best Scenario would be for CUSA not to take anymore Western Teams.

Then the WAC could add UNT, LA, LA and one other East team to give LaTech some company in the WAC East. I don't think LaTech can afford the WAC without adding more Eastern Teams.
