I already did and am waiting for a reply. Not sure what his work schedule is, but if he has left for the day he might not check his email until Monday.

Here's the email I got back from him (jim tirey of clearchannel radio)

Mark,

My sources have confirmed this but it is not public yet. Unless a huge disaster happens (which is not out of the question regarding WKU), it will happen. They'll start play in basketball 2005-06, football 2005, I think...

Please don't pay any attention to this baffoon, and please to not connect this ignorant fool with any other Sun Belt fans.

This is a WAC forum and I'm sure you guys could not possibly give a damn who Western Kentucky is much less where they play their sports.

Convoy53, you are really making Western Kentucky fans look like idiots.

Question is Blue raider pride. Why are you here? I am not a WKU Alum but a Temple one.
And I would like to see our Football in the MAC or CUSA. I think the Sun BELT SCHOOLS ARE A LITTLE NERVOUS. wKU PULLS OFF A GOOD MOVE WITHOUT HAVING 1A FOOTBALL AND THE REST OF YOU ARE SCRAMBLING FOR A HOME.

Sorry, I still don't understand why the MAC would add a d1aa football team to their conference.

Well, at least the Sun Belt schools know that they are not BC$ caliber instead of a pretender like Temple who had to be voted out of the BC$ and the Big East in order for Owl fans to see where the old private school in Philly REALLY belongs.

Outsider opinion. Temple may eventually be a football-only member of the MAC should they decide to take one.

Temple football is near the bottom in Division 1-A in all-time rankings and winning percentage. Temple basketball is almost the opposite. If Temple were willing to bring all sports to a conference, they would have had little trouble finding another conference home. But the Atlantic-10 is a very good basketball conference and I can understand their wanting to stay. Too bad the Atlantic-10 hasn't elevated football to the 1-A level.

If this rumor is true, MTSU might be invited because they are decent to very good in all sports. WKU has a very good basketball program, won the 1-AA national championship in football two years ago and also very competitive in other sports.

We'll just have to wait and see which current MAC members won't qualify under the new rules. At least three are in serious jeopardy and a couple more can't be overly comfortable. I believe that the MAC wants/has to stay at 12 and additions are necessary.

What private school in Philadelphia are you referring to? There are lots of them, to be sure. Temple isn't one of them, it's a public, state-supported university. 05-nono

I am pretty sure the WKU is BOGUS. Very little support for it anywhere, but that one guy.

That's right. I don't know of many private schools with 30,000 students.

My bad. I assumed it was a private school simply because of the name of the school and it's very wealthy alumni.

Still, private or public, I think I made a point.

Why would the MAC want a basketball only school? They have been a national D1AA champion recently but they told the Sun Belt they had no interest in moving their FB program to D1A. This move makes no sense for the MAC from an all-sports perspective...
