Just to get a sense on how the rivalries of this league shape up what would you say are the most heated rivalries in the WAC in football and Basketball?

Boise State vs. Nevada has always been a good rivalry in the past in football and basketball. However, it is not what I would call a "heated" rivalry, just a mutually respectful rivalry. They have been playing each other for about 25 years now. It hasn't been much of a rivalry of late in football as the scores have been very lopsided in favor of Boise State. In basketball Nevada has the advantage cuirrently. They have a very good team right now, and I think everyone saw how good at the NCAA tournament. But the fact is Boise State split their two basketball games with Nevada and Boise State also NOW has a very good basketball team (they played three games in the N.I.T. tournament this spring) and they will do nothing but improve under their current head coach.

Boise State vs. Fresno State is becoming a more heated rivalry and is probably the most intense rivalry right now for Boise State in football and basketball. However, Boise State has won three straight from Fresno State in football and the last two games were not very close. It "should" be closer this year tho.

The team that gives Boise State the most trouble in football is Louisiana Tech, but I'd hardly call that a rivalry. They are just too far away for it to be a rivalry.

Doesn't Fresno consider San Jose State as their biggest rival?
Most of the WAC rivals are not in conference.
UTEP/NMSU could be if UTEP stays.
Hawaii's biggest rival has been BYU.
Boise State has Idaho.
Nevada has UNLV.
Utah State as BYU and Utah.
I don't know who LaTech has.

Herdzoned is one of the Good Guys. He has provided me with a lot of great valid information over the last several weeks.

One of the things I like about these boards is the comaraderie and lack of personal attacks that are so pervasive on other sports forums.

biggest rival:

BSU and FSU. fresno gets the pub, but boise gets the wins, and both hate the other for it. the last three games have been on ESPN, and i'd bet next year's will be, too.
03-razz

second biggest rival:

SJSU and SMU. they fight for the cellar every single season!

I like the Boise State/Nevada rivalry the best. That year end game in Reno is awesome.

When Idaho joins the WAC, the Boise State/Idaho rivalry will be the best WAC rivalry. :saber:
