RE: What a conference!
I guess it's time to start showing UConn some respect and throw their name into the hat for eventual conference champion.

Good win by the Huskies.

Good win by the Huskies.

If they win one of their next two they are in the hunt. They finish with a couple tough road games so they may need both.

RE: What a conference!
Every other BCS conference will have 8 bowl teams and the MWC will likely equal the BE for 5 bowl teams. CUSA and MAC are too balanced this year and are looking at just 3 or 4 bowl eligible teams each right now. WAC is very top heavy and make struggle to get more than Bosie, Hawaii, and Fresno State in a bowl. Sun Belt is looking a Troy and perhaps FAU sneaking into a bowl.

The MWC will have 5 teams in minor bowls. The only way the Pac-10 will have 6 teams bowl eligible is if Oregon State wins 3 of their last 4 games. They are 4-3 right now. So, if Oregon State falters, the Pac-10 will only have 5 bowl teams.

BE should consider football expansion ASAP so the conference can get up to 6 and 7 bowl games.

Expansion would be nice, but it would be to get 6 or 7 bowl teams, that is lower on the totem pole.

You might need to get two BE teams through the schedule with 1 loss due to the bias shown to the other conferences. I don't know how likely that is to happen. I kind of feel that the only 2 loss squad with any chance at a BCS slot would be WVU. A lot would have to happen though.

Hawaii only needs one loss and that may happen. You have to to feel that the Pac Ten and SEC will get 2 team so that leaves 2 to be split between the BE, Big Ten, ACC and Big 12. It will be interesting to see how those slots shake out.

It is so early though.

And the only way a 2 loss West Virginia team would get a sniff is if they lose at Cincinnati (who is ranked) or Rutgers (who should be ranked)

I agree the only 2 loss at-large would be WVU and otherwise the 2 loss team would have to be Rutgers winning the conference.

5/8 teams bowl elgible with a chance to get 2 in the bcs, i'll take that any day.
I do not think the Big East should expand just to get a couple of .500 teams into a couple of minimum payout bowl contests. The SEC, Big 12, and ACC can have that garbage from my perspective. I would be perfectly fine with two BCS bids, three more teams in the Gator/Meineke/International games, and letting an extra MAC squad have the Papa John's berth. The quality of bowl appearances is more important than the quantity of bowl appearances.
