The WAC will also reward the teams that actually play on ESPN.

Fantastic! That's great news! :D

Tulsa may not see a dime of that money, but I'm happy for all the schools in the WAC. We'll be pulling for you down the road no matter what! 04-cheers

Sorry, but that's simply not true.....yet. It is only being considered at this point. Frankly I think it stands very little chance of becoming true. It's far more likely that the money will be distributed evenly.03-cool

Secondly, according to this article in the Honolulu paper the ESPN contract is for MORE than $1,000,000. So, saying the new contract is for $1,000,000 is also inaccurate.

It's great news for the W.A.C. They have provided some VERY exciting games to ESPN. Nice to see them get rewarded fairly. 03-cool

I wouldn't go as far as to call the deal fair. But it is an improvement.

As far as teams getting more money for appearances, I'm kind of undecided. Boise State is currently sitting at the top of the WAC-but as we all know that can change year to year. I posted on this very topic about a week ago-at that time I thought there should be some type of payout for teams making appearances on ESPN-but as B-Bob pointed out -as a school and football team, your fortunes can change in the blink of an eye. By sharing it strengthens the conference and can help fortify membership. So how ever it works out-I hope the people making the decision has everyones best interest in mind.

1.1-1.2 mil.

More cash less teams, this is definately a good thing. Lets say nine teams @ 1,100,000.00 = 122,222.00 per member per year. that is a $hit load better then the 35-40k per team per year that the WAC had going on.
