Maybe I'm the wrong person to get a poll started since Tulsa is leaving...

The two choices above are a little simplistic, but you get the idea. Should the WAC break out of the all-sports model and invite schools without D-1A football? The idea would be to recast the WAC as a basketball league and create TV value and league revenue that way.

Of course, the WAC would still have football. Adding hoops schools would probably involve going to 10 members overall, with 8 football teams.

Just curious about everyone's opinion on this. Lots to consider, so post your thoughts below!

EDIT: I'm not casting a vote.

Open membership is great idea CG---a west coast Big East!!! If the WAC could add Gonzaga and Pepperdine, who almost always has a good basketball team, to start with. They could have a really strong national BB conference name. The Big East is going to be a lot more famous for their BB teams than football. This could build the WAC's reputation and that could do nothing but help football!!!! This could be something the fans and alumni really got behind and pushed Benson and the individual schools. The WAC---the Big East of the West!!! Not bad!!!

Don't like it at all. I want the Broncos to be in a league of all football members. In 2005, th Big East will be the only D1A football conference that has non-football schools in their membership. Football is number one with me and schools without football have little value to me.

I know, I know, I am a football snob....So Be It!!!!!
