At least one-half of the Marshall fans didn't want to move up. They are the ones that liked being a big fish in a little pond. Well, ask any one of their fans today if it were worth the move. It is much more fun to be in the national picture and be seen on ESPN or the networks. Bowl games are even more fun than D1AA national championship games. I have attended both. You are lucky to attract 20,000 to a D1AA championship game. The ones with Marshall drew well but were mostly played in Huntington. Just another home game to them.

I'm telling you guys here is the situation. I have no idea what the administration at Montana would do if they were offered an invite to a good Conference like the WAC. They might turn it down and they might accept, you'll never know till the invite is offered.

I will tell you this. They will NEVER EVER do what Idaho and Troy State did. They will not go 1A as an Independent with no Conference affiliation.

So, if the WAC would like another good program like Boise State and Nevada then they need to get off their fannies and make a formal and public invitation. They might get turned down the first time who knows, but they should keep trying till they get us.

We have the fan support and facilities like no one else in 1AA and more and more people are thinking we need to go to the next challenge in football and many also believe we need to get into a better basketball Conference.

North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota, and South Dakota State are too far to the east for the Western Athletic Conference.
They belong in the Missouri Valley Conference for basketball and the Gateway Conference for football.
