BE-9, BE-10, BE-12, is our invitation in the mail?
To some of my CUSA colleagues,

I saw a good conference, the WAC, utterly destroyed by some of its own schools and fans who continually berated the conference and made public statements they wanted to be in the MWC. It was/is a public relations disaster that offest the many positives and improvements the WAC was making.

Yesterday, many of us would consider a disaster. It was. But every coin has two sides. And, if you lose, my business trainer tells me at least don't lose the lesson.

I saw the Colorado State U President come on national tv and proclaim his school and his new MWC coference as elite and schools like my school (Tulsa) as never have, never wills. Today, CSU is 0-6. Looking back on all that, I saw yesterday before. There is life (and progress) tomorrow.

Yesterday, we got a message and a lesson that some of us needed to hear again. Take care of business on your side of the fence. Regarding the greener grass on the other side of the fence, take care of business on your side of the fence and the future will take care of itself.

In my (crazy) mind, yesterday was a gift. It wiped away a mentally cluttered slate and refocused CUSA.

Personally, I think CUSA can be a great conference. Obviously by yesterday's results and the entire season, there is a lot of hard work yet to be done by all CUSA schools. Even those CUSA schools that won yesterday, there was nothing in those victories to brag about.

I thought this football season would provide a spark for CUSA. That didn't happen. Maybe the upcoming basketball season will do that for us.

My remarks are not directed at only some fans at a few CUSA schools but to all CUSA fans at all CUSA schools. Most of them already knew that and this post is redundant for them.

Tallgrass no offense because I like you as a poster but why is this on a BIG EAST Board.

C-USA has a lot of work to do and now C-USA fans realize what a huge chuck on the conference left when UofL, UC, USF and TCU went to other leagues.

Can it bounce back sure, but it might take another 2 to 3 years.

Coming from the far west and the WAC/MWC situation and having seen this all before especially with the Fresno State crowd....I think it fine that BE fans want to speculate, that is the fun of these boards...CUSA fans should know better than let themselves get caught up in this. I think it is like that women's saying....the way to catch a man is to run away.

Tallgrass,
Though I don't always agree with your posts I respect your opinions. You articulate your position well and that is certainly a breath of fresh air on any messageboard "where your team sucks" is hailed as deep thought. After reading the posts in the link I understand why you posted this here. I just believe you're preaching to the choir. No one on any messageboard controls the destiny of their program or conference. I would hate to think Coach K, Tom Jurich or Mikey T wasted any time on a Louisville or Big East messageboard worrying about what a few wingnuts, with too much time on their hands like me, think about our respective schools present conference affiliations. The only way I see messageboard negativity causing problems for a program is if a core group of fans chooses to stop buying tickets, attending games or supporting the program. I guess it is possible but I just don't see enough wingnuts like me rooting for each program to collectively effect anything. Top that off with the same negativity needing to be present at multiple conference schools to cause conference instability and I just don't see it. You are giving wingnuts like me way too much credit. Good luck to your Canes the rest of the season.

Your thoughtful response appreciated. I wanted make the post above, admittedly carrying old baggage from WAC. I should take all this with a sense of humor, I know. But sometimes...I just get tired of it all.

Regarding Tulsa, we lost two good defensive backs from last year's team and two other defensive backs have gone down since the seaosn started. Opposing team are lighting usup like a Xmas tree with long pass plays. So far, TU hasn't been able to fix the problem...and it doesn't look good.
