Should South Florida be ranked #1
To me they have the most impressive resume of any undefeated school. Wins against WVU and @ Auburn plus the thrashing of a solid team in UCF.

IF Cal wins this would be my Top 5.

1. South Florida
2. Cal
3. Ohio State
4. Boston College
5. Oklahoma

Ohio State shouldn't get any credit for beating the crap out of Kent State. That's like saying that the cupcakes Rutgers started their season against are world beating giants. But that's exactly what will happen. You watch, Ohio State will end up ranked ahead of USF. So will Cal if they win. BC should lose some ground since they struggled so against ND, but they probably won't. The BEast is college football's version of Rodney Dangerfield. We just can't get any respect.

It is not about respect. Poll voters do not usually jump teams around that much. When the number one team loses, most of the time, they move the number two team up. That is the way it has always been. South Florida is still an unknown commodity to the vast majority of poll voters and there is no way most of them would take a chance on ranking the Bulls number one, unless there is no other alternative, because the embarrassment, if they subsequently slip up, would make those poll voters look very bad and they absolutely do not want that to happen.

Poll voters don't move their favorite teams around much. Other teams don't get the same luxury. Had a BEast team lost to Stanford at home, they'd have dropped 20 spots. USC dropped 5. Don't tell me the voters don't do this or that. They do, unless the team involved is one the media favors.

It doesn't matter, If Cal loses, USF will be #3. Bos Coll will not go undeafted, ACC to tough. I'd watch Missouri, they stay undeafted, they might leap frog USF.

What would make Missouri leapfrog USF if they stay undefeated. USF would have played the tougher schedule then the Tigers.

Yes, South Florida has earned a #1 ranking based on scheduling and winning.

South Florida's undefeated schedule and absolute domination vs West Virginia was enough to earn the honor to be ranked #1.

Panite I think it will lokk like that because that is the way the polls typically work. USF started so far off the radar that they will need BC or OSU to lose, or dominate the rest of their schedule to move up.

The better BEast teams would have a field day in the ACC. It ain't as tough as you think. BC just hasn't been tested yet. The games against Wake Forest and Georgia Tech couldn't be called real tests. They came too early for that. Teams aren't always up to par at the start of the season. Besides, GT has lost 3 games, and Wake 2.

Do you think USF would get the same kind of respect if their biggest wins were over teams with similar records? They wouldn't. The only reason BC is so high is because of all the voters favoring teams from established conferences. They don't want to see an upstart like The BEast get the respect they think is reserved for their conferences. Screw 'em all. 05-mafia

Ain't the MAC a grand smorgasboard for the Big Ten powers. And they complain about The BEast.
