by the looks of it, if you take tulsa out of the equation, the incoming schools and outgoing schools are pretty much a wash in terms of athletic success.

if UNT had accepted along with idaho (not that both would've been invited), i think it would've been a total wash.

BUT, no doubt, national perception is that the wac took a few steps backward. now it'll be up to all teams to dispute that by winning as many OOC games as possible.

The WAC actually got rid of their worst football team in UTEP! I had no idea!!!

Also, Idaho has the best post season Bowl record. They have never lost a game. Albeit, they only have played one bowl game in their history.

UTEP has been the doormat for years. Utah State would have been more competitive in the old WAC than UTEP.

If you ask the UTEP fans they are going to be the kings of college football since they hired Mike Price.

The thing we lose in the leaving members only really affects basketball. UTEP has been the doormat since their H-Bowl, Tulsa has been a doormat until last season, SMU has been down at the bottom, and Rice somewhere in the middle. The top 5 FB programs are still in the WAC: Boise St, Frenso St, Hawaii, Nevada, La Tech.

I have always believed that Utah State has a real chance of becoming a strong football school. They have suffered through some poor seasons as an independent, but their WAC membership should bring them strong recruiting and they should be very competitive in a couple of years.

They should have been invited to the WAC with Boise STate!
