Heard the newly-designed Camel from a couple of years ago will be no more! Back to the running Camel. The interlocking "CU" will be used, too. (helmet, etc).

I like both logos but I def think our headlining logo should be the new one. The running one is nice for some classic look or vintage tees but the new Camel looks ready to bring the pain!

They need to leave the new logo as it is. It is an improvement over the old logo. Why would you want to change it?

But what do I know - Why would you want to move the law school?

Some decisions that have been made lately - You really have to wonder what were they thinking???

I hear that this is the administrations way of punishing athletics for not bowing down at the alter and asking for permission before doing their jobs! The Alumni (me included) and current students should revolt if the logo gets changed. As a matter of fact we should be proactive rather than reactive and let the administration know that we like the new logo!

I agree. I sent them an e-mail on it over the weekend.

We should all do that. I also spoke to a couple of students that intern at the business I work at and they were not aware of this. They agreed with us on this that this should not change.
I told them to spread was going on to their friends. It will probably take the alumni and students revolting against this to stop it.

Ehhhh....I don't know, guys. I kinda like what they're doing (using the "CU" logo), at least for now. Hear me out!!...

1. Helmets - The "CU" logo on the helmet looks a whole lot better than any of the camel logos would.

2. Those lamp post banners that were up around campus a few weeks ago before the Christmas wreaths - They had "CU" on them and looked VERY good.

3. Seems like there was a trend a few years ago to revise logos. Most looked a little cartoon-ish. Coastal Carolina is an example, as well as that new camel logo. Remember State's logo with the 3 wolves and Carolina's new ram? If you blinked, you might have missed them. They looked NBA-ish.

4. After thinking about it, a lot of schools don't use their "mascot" logo on helmets, basketball courts, football fields much anymore. State uses the "S w/ NC" but not the wolf, UNC uses the interlocking "NC" but not the foot (much) or ram, Wake uses "WF" but not the deacon. I like the "initial" logos, especially for colleges.

5. Imagine our football field. I don't know but I assume they'll use "CU" at the 50yd line. That logo will look better on a football field than the camel logos.

6. Now, I can imagine the new camel logo on the new basketball floor looking pretty good. But, I'll bet it will be "CU" again. That will look ok. (Remember State's and Wake's court.)

Have you all seen some of the other camel logos used in the past? The one wearing the Scottish cap? The one that was strictly the word "Camels" in some 80s-looking font?

I may have misunderstood. I don't have a problem with CU being used. I just think if you are going to put a mascot on the logo then the one we have is better than going back to the running camel that looks like he is tripping over himself.

An example would be the one they use on yahoo sports. We can do better than that. The current mascot logo is an improvement over that one.

I do not have any problem with just having CU on the court or the field though. I will agree with you on that.

Orange: your points are well made, but I must agree with our friend Camelfan on this one. I was unaware that the concern was over placement of the logo... Using the interlocking CU is fine with me for the helmets, field, courts, etc., but if we use the camel we should use the ferocious snarling camel and not the one that is falling all over itself. The old camel very much embodies our old basketball program - the new camel is a better representation of where we are going. So if you are saying that we get to keep our new camel mascot (the guy in the suite at the games) along with the new representation and that the debate is whether it will be displayed in the field, floor and helmets - then I am in total agreement with Orange. If you are saying that we loose our new camel in lieu of our old camel then I say I agree with Camelfan. Either way I personally like being a "fighting camel"!
