Andy Avalos currently has 268 career tackles at Boise State and that has him (right now) at # 14 on the Boise State all-time career tackles list. Where will he finish his career at Boise State?

# 1 all-time in career tackles at Boise State right now is Scott Russell (1987-1990) with 415 career tackles. Avalos would have to have 148 tackles this season in order to break Scott Russell's career record for tackles at Boise State. Avalos would have to AVERAGE 12.33 tackles per game this season (assuming Boise State plays in 12 games this season) in order to break that record.

# 2 on the all-time career tackles list at Boise State is Quintin Mikell (1999-2002) at 401 career tackles at Boise State. Avalos would need 134 tackles this season to pass Quintin Mikell (an average of 11.16 tackles per game, assuming 12 games).

# 3 on the all-time career tackles list at Boise State is Carl Keever (1982-1984) with 397 career tackles at Boise State. Avalos would need 130 tackles this season in order to pass Keever on the all-time career tackles list at Boise State (an average of 10.83 tackles per game, assuming 12 games this season).

# 4 on the all-time career tackles list at Boise State is a tie between Ray Santucci (1978-1981) and Brian Smith (1992-1995) as both of them have 333 career tackles at Boise State. Avalos would need only 66 tackles this season in order to pass both Santucci and Brian Smith (an average of 5.5 tackles per game, assuming 12 games this season).

Last season (as a Junior) Andy Avalos recorded 112 tackles in 14 games (an average of 8 tackles per game). Avalos has increased his totals every year as follows:

2001 season - 49 total tackles
2002 season - 107 total tackles
2003 season - 112 total tackles

Where will he finish his career at Boise State? # 1? # 2? # 3? or #4?

P.S. The record for most tackles in any ONE season at Boise State is 164 tackles by Scott Russell in 1988. # 2 all time in one season at Boise State is 160 tackles in 1980 by Dan Williams.

AA's tackles go down this year, IMO and that's because we're going to be so solid on the edges that they'll take many tackles that he used to get. I say he ends up #4 which is quite an accomplishment since he's been on teams with offensive power that puts us up early and forces teams to pass.

You may be right, R.R. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if Andy Avalos once again leads the team in tackles this season, regardless of what the opponents do on offense.

The guy who may eventually end up # 1 in tackles at Boise State is Korey Hall. Last season as a redshirt freshman he recorded 92 tackles. So he needs only 324 more tackles in the next three seasons in order to break the record at Boise State, i.e., he needs to average 108 tackles per season for the next three years in order to break the record.

Sure can't argue with either point. AA is an awesome LB with desire to make the play like noone else. I bet he or Carr leads in tackles this year but I'm guessing that the leader gets less than 100.

Then there's Korey, on another plane altogether. When I saw Korey as a true freshman in 2 a days, I siad then and there that he was NFL bound and I haven't changed that opinion.

# 4 tackler for Boise State last season, Chris Carr with 81 tackles.

# 5 tackler for Boise State last season, Gabe Franklin with 73 tackles.

The Boise State defense also has the following players returning this fall as well:

# 11 tackler for Boise State last season, Cam Hall with 35 tackles.

# 12 tackler for Boise State last season, Andrew Browning with 31 tackles.

# 13 tackler for Boise State last season, Mike Williams with 30 tackles.

# 14 tackler for Boise State last season, Chris Barrios with 29 tackles.

# 15 tackler for Boise State last season, Julius Roberts with 24 tackles.

# 16 tackler for Boise State last season, Tim Hefty with 20 tackles.

# 17 tackler for Boise State last season, Gerald Alexander with 20 tackles.

# 18 tackler for Boise State last season, Alex Guerrero with 18 tackles.
