Notice how our coverage in the newspapers has dropped off the end of the table? We are now no longer mentioned among the local colleges. If it weren't for D. Jones, we'd have virtually no coverage at all. Notre Damn's coverage has actually increased even though they are 0-3 and among the worst teams in the nation. Ahh, just like the good old days!!

D. Jones is the man!!!
Perhaps we need some more high scale defections or perhasp some Huskies covering the news!!

The game against Idaho is unlikely to attract much attention.
However the game against Central Michigan is much more likely to garner attention.
A loss in this game and our season is over.
A win against Central Michigan might mean that we might still goto Detroit.

I get the sun-times and I have not noticed any drop off in coverage. We get the same blurb on Friday, with a decent article on Sunday detailing the game...If there is some newsworthy event during the week they will also have that.

In fact, Rick Armstrong who covers NIU for the Beacon News has many stories carry over to the Sun-Times (which owns the Beacon News)...There was even a front page picture of the NIU football player who was a soldier in Iraq in last Friday's paper with a full page story that followed in the sports section.

DF...the sky is not falling...at least not yet.

The coverage is the same as it's been the past two seasons, except for the week building up to the MAC championship game.

My dad said he was noticing a drop in the NW Herald coverage. The last couple years, it seemed that they would be on the front page of the sports. They actually have one of the Star's reporter, covering the game for them now

I have not noticed any reduction in coverage from the Chicago papers. The Sun-Times continues to do a solid job with their weekly mid-week feature article. The Tribune has always covered us less than the Sun-Times. Seems about the same to me.[/b]

I haven't seen NIU mentioned this much in the local and national media since 2003 to tell you the truth.

In past years our coverage picks up after baseball.

Rather unreasonable to expect same frequency and depth of coverage for a team now 0-3 vrs recent prior teams with marquee players & all the Heisman hype with Turner then Wolfe coming off a bowl win & making headlines every weekend & feeding the ferenzy on Mondays for more....
