Anyone find out specifically what the white Jena kid did (the one that got beaten senseless)? I admit that I haven't read a lot about this case, though I'm guessing he's probably not exactly an angel. But did he start hurling the n-word at the black kids, or was he the convenient scapegoat for other incidences happening in that town months ago?

Either way, a mano-a-mano fight is one thing, where the two fighters abide by unwritten "rules": If you beat someone and they fall to the ground and quit fighting, you stop. But a mob beating of 6-on-1, where the kickings continued well after the guy was curled up on the ground, doesn't hold up.

Like RKev said, I don't think attempted murder. But it's certainly assault and battery.

I was curious about the background of this fight, so I did a Google search using cues from the video (such as "norfolk" and "O'rourke"). Interesting how I only came up with a few scattered Virginia-based outlets, and a blurb on Fox News and the Washington Times.

now the media is pathetically trying to label Bill O'reilly a racist, after a long discussion with Juan Williams on his book about race. Of course they have to take quotes out of context and lie to do so. Anyway, CNN and MSNBC are doing it, and at charlotte.com (Charlotte Observer, liberal rag), they've had it headlined for a day now......things must be going better in Iraq.

My problem with the Jena thing is that Jesse and Al should have shown up and got involved in this community as soon as these noose kids were not expelled from school, allowing the racial fire to smolder for over 3 months...Maybe they could have calmed down some of tension BEFORE violence occured...They waited until it was too late...Its a shame that Jesse has forgotten the teachings of MLK, who rolled over in his grave when these 6 kids committed assualt and battery....The incident should have NEVER occured...We have learned very little as a country when it come to tolerating and dealing with each other without resorting to violence...When I see things like this occur..I am deeply saddened and disturbed.

Lets clarify...Someone with influence in the black and white communities should have stepped in and calmed this down before it got out of hand...I agree..they are NOT MLK.

From what was reported (whether correct or not) the white kid who got beat up allegedly was with a group of white kids who beat up on a black kid at a party. Seems those white kids were NOT charged with attempted murder.

Havent heard that report.....But...It that is true...Does that justify what happened?...The whole thing was a shame....Leaders in both the black and white community should have stepped in and put this fire out before it got out of hand...Its a godsend that someone didnt get killed....I hope everyone learns from this...Racism still exists in the USA and when it rears its head...We have to nix it with calm heads and rational discussion...not fists...MLK rolled over in his grave over this.
