OT: OFFSEASON IS SLOOOOOOOOOOOW
So since we are in a pretty slow period, I was wondering what everone is upto around here. Summer jobs, or what you are doing this summer besides getting drunk. Maybe if you don't post but browse, feel free to jump in. I have a feeling snart's comment might be interesting.
I will start it off, I have been working this summer as a King's Island Lifeguard at the waterpark and at a local soccer store. Two jobs keeps me busy. And als tryin to make friends before I start school.

Work at the K-State Student Union. I just picked up NCAA Football for the 360 so that will keep me busy until school starts.

I still play NCAA 2005...
I dont see the need in buying roughly the same game every year, so I tend to either go Madden/NCAA every other year or just play the same game one more season.
Now that one company owns the sport, they dont have to make dramatic changes in order to sell their product. Good for them, bad for gamers.
I was a fan of ESPN's $20 series as well. Not as good as Madden IMO, but a much better value. Wouldnt it be great if all games were $20?

Starting tomorrow my summer instantly gets better. Tomorrow is my daughter's last day of the summer school classes she wanted to take, which means tomorrow is the last day this summer that I have to get up at the crack of dawn to drive her to school. Plus this Friday I leave for two weeks of vacation at my dad's house in Michigan. It doesn't get any better than that... well, not any better without involving sex, drugs, and alcohol.

Charlevoix. Upper part of lower penisula. And it had better not be scorching hot since NOBODY up there has air conditioning!

Ever made it to the UP? I drove through there and stopped in Escanaba for a beer and to watch the UC/USC NIT game (which wasn't on their tv). But Amber Bock bottles were only $1. I orginally wanted to hit up some parks on Lake Michigan, but it was getting to dark and the prospect of sleeping in my tent in 15-20 degree weather quickly lost its appeal after that first night.
As for this summer I just got back from Maine. Will be going to St. Louis hopefully shortly. Then it's off to Wisconsin and the Apostle Islands, then it's off to the Adirondacks for a week long backpacking trip. Then school starts.

I have been to the UP many times before. The UP is wonderful, especially since there are so few people up there to spoil it, but there are WAY too many mosquitoes for my taste! The UP is made up of rocky soil with lots of sitting water, and there are countless places where mosquitoes can and do breed. I have seen them descend on us like a black cloud! On the other hand the entire western shore of the Lower Peninsula is sand. And that sand deposit is hundreds of feet deep and between 25 and 40 miles wide! No sitting water exists anywhere, and hence, there are NO MOSQUITOES!!! I have sat out star gazing all night long countless times and have never been bit by a mosquito. Since we are now blessed with West Nile fever, Deng fever, and in other places malaria, in my book, having no mosquitoes alone is worth putting up with all the people that vacation in and around Charlevoix. Anyway, you sound like you are going to be busy for the rest of the summer. Enjoy. And use some DEET in Wisconsin else you will be eaten alive by the little buggers up there too!

Believe me, I know about the mosquitos in Northern Wisconsin. Went on a hike in the Apostle Islands on Stocken Island (which supposedly has the largest concentration of black bears in the norhtern states) and my entire shirt wasn't litterly covered with them (mosquitos, not bears) but they were all swarming around and biting me and stuff. It was great.
