I'm interested to know who everyone thinks might be the Newcomer of The Year in football in 2005. By that I mean which one of the new recruits from each team do you think will "shine" and be All-WAC this season?

You can choose from the players that College Football News picked as your school's Star of the Class or the Instant Impact Players named by CFN or you can pick someone else entirely if you wish. Here are College Football News' choices for each school:

I would not pick ANY of the above as my pick. Here's who I would pick (from among Boise State's new recruits obviously):

DENNIS ELLIS, DE, 6-3, 270, Jr., Cleveland, Texas (Cleveland HS/College of the Canyons)
Originally committed to Texas A&M in February 2002. Attended College of the Canyons where he helped his team to the 2004 Junior College National Championship with a perfect 14-0 record. Named first-team All-American and first-team all-state on the defensive line as a sophomore after recording 91tackles and 18.5 sacks. Named first-team all-conference on the defensive line as a freshman in 2002 after making 76 tackles, including 12 sacks. Graduated from Cleveland High School in Cleveland, Texas, in 2002. Earned first team all-state honors as a linebacker as a senior, while also earning first-team all-district recognition as both a linebacker and a fullback. Recorded 100 tackles, seven sacks, and 20 tackles for loss as a senior. On offense, rushed for 750 yards and eight touchdowns including an 81-yard touchdown run. Named district MVP as a junior, as well as first-team all-district on honorable mention all-state as a defensive lineman. Finished junior season with 110 tackles and 12 sacks. Lettered in football three times.

I think that Bear Pascoe, ex QB recruit coverted to Tight End will be an impact Newcomer for Fresno State. He is big, physical, aggressive and it looks like he enjoys hitting 03-wink

He had a heck of a Spring game and I expect to hear a lot from him this year, giving Pinegar an excellent target with good hands.

For Idaho:

One of three players will get strong conference recognition: JC WR Matt Askew (6' 4", 205), JC CB Jason Martin (played as a true freshman at Arizona), or RFr DT Alex Toailoa (6' 0," 290; projected starter last year prior to breaking his leg).

Actually the top prospect for USU is not listed. He was a prop 48 guy that did not play last year. He is academically eligible now and will be on the field this fall. He is a very special player and is our highest rated recruit in decades. Some said he was the second best DE in the 2004 class. IMO he could be the freshman of the year and a 1st team all conference selection. Here is his story.

We also have Justin Soi who will be on the field. Keith Gilliam was a good catch as well. We are getting some pieces in place and although this may not be the year, many feel that we will be competitive in the league in a year or two.

I honestly have no idea who'll be the star of Nevada's recruiting class, but two names to keep in mind are:
Selevasio Fauolo LB
Kyle Sammons WR
