I still wish we could have that banner on the Arena some how. That would be the coolest thing ever. I've been wearing my Striped Crew shirts, and a lot of ppl have asked about it. It really is starting to catch on. And after my hell week is over, I'm writing the Striped Crew Article for the Sentinel. It will most likely be a full page with plenty of pictures. I cant wait to start writing it.

Biz has a ton of photos of Striped Crew stuff that Tyler (the production manager) could use.

I like the way things are shaping up. I really believe if people know about the games they will come. I see students wearing Kennesaw State shirts on campus all over the place so there must be some school pride to tap into. Also, we need to market the tailgates on the East Deck top floor. People love to be social so this should be pretty easy if done right. A good spot for a sign would be right before that bridge heading to the freshmen dorms... most of them walk over that bridge on the way to and from class. Another good spot would be by the sidewalk coming from those same dorms but near the round about. Both of those would cover pretty much every student that went to class that day on the north side of campus.

I'm liking the bridge idea for a sign. that would work very very very well.

What do you guys think about the local businesses? Los Reyes, Sidelines, Mellow Mushroom, O'Charlies, and new additions like Chick-fil-a, Zucca, Firehouse Subs, and the more to follow. I heard something about a Taco Mac near Chick fil a. That'd be pretty nice.

What would you like to see from these places? More KSU stuff? Jerseys/posters/schedule cards/large photos, anything else?

I know the athletic department has teamed up with Sidelines (advert on ksuowls.com), but I can't think of a crappier bar than that place. Food's horrible, service is lacking, the TV's aren't positioned correctly (except for the booth tv's), and they keep their bat signal on every freakin night. I'm not a fan. Supposedly, they're going to show all the KSU Away games on TV (probably through PlayOn, that's the only way I see that happening).

Def more KSU stuff. I like going to Wildwings or the Wendys and seeing some KSU stuff on the wall.

Los Reyes would be a great option as well. that place is packed at night. Maybe Quiznos as well.

Taco Mac is going in near chick-fil-a... It is on the banner or what not. That would be a good place because I am sure it will be packed out. Zucca is a nice bar and they have a pretty good beer list so that could work too. But def taco mac.

Highlands grill, there's other places as well. What should we hook these places up with?

We should hook them up with anything and everything that we have that would show school spirit. We need to turn at least our part of Kennesaw into more of a college town and even though I'm a Georgia football fan, everybody that comes through here or lives here needs to know this is Owl Country.

Georgia State's coach practically begging the students to show up to the game. That is not the job of a head coach but if it works, may be an idea. I'm not going to ask Ingle to swallow his pride this much but maybe more activities with the team, more visibility could help. I just don't think it's their job.

What are your thoughts?

Who knows..I would think the best students to target would be those on campus.. A lot of high school teams have great team spirit so these students could now turn that school spirit towards their college team...thing is you have to know that there is a game on in order to do that..

Everyone knows when the hockey games are and there are no posters, banners, chalking but no one knows when we play D-I basketball. I don't get that. They do beat the crap out of teams which if our basketball had that kind of success (and did when they were D-II) it may work like that. The hockey team will be one of those wonders I will never know the answer to. They have great attendance (best at KSU) and they're a club team that plays thug hockey.

You're a good sport... Thug hockey is fun to watch.. Most people around here haven't seen a lot of hockey (Thrashers are still new..) which means they don't know a lot about it. Most that attend those games look at the score and the hits thats all.. They don't know the rules and don't understand hockey.. Thug hockey is perfect for attendance.. Also no one has hockey at their high school..so they go to their first game and see all those hits..keeps them coming back.

True. It's just not for me. I think when/if they're matched up against someone who has the talent they do, it's more interesting. Tennessee or UGA maybe but they'd get owned by many D-I programs up north.

Went to the home opener vs. Life when it was 4-0 with 15 to go in the 1st. Life only had 2 lines at best not to mention the caliber of players wasn't even close. If I were Life, I wouldn't even schedule to play KSU. I don't know where KSU gets it's jollies scheduling them twice at home even though it's geographically close for both of the schools.

And one last thing about hockey, then I'm done griping. Heard they played Clemson close till the third period then blew them out 12-2?!?! Is that your show of sportsmanship? Keep it close for the first two then humiliate the team at the end of the game.

Not like they can't stop scoring with a three or four goal lead. Keep the lines on longer, don't allow checking, only passes, shoot at the goalie, wrap it around the boards... anything. Fighting tired and beaten opponents, then killing the team by scoring a bazillion goals shorthanded is less than respectful, it's despicable.

Ok, I'm done... work tomorrow. No more about hockey from me.

Its cool..I mean I understand your tirade and I'm not saying I back our style of hockey..simply stating why they get, and will continue to get, good crowds. Our basketball team is exciting to watch, mainly Wooten, but some fans that don't understand what D1 means are expecting too much. They look in the paper and see that we are 6th in conference and say we suck.. Getting everyones attention (mainly those that live on campus) will help get good crowds, winning will keep them there.
