Bluma Wrote:- Change the name and mascot  to some untraditional, yet New Mexico-related.  Most people connect New Mexico with UFO's (Roswell), so why not something that plays off this?  It would be one of the first collegiate mascots based on aliens.  Since aliens mostly deal with farners  supposedly, it would still be agriculture-related.
LOL...How about the Crop Circles? Great combination of aliens and agriculture! Just think of the possibilities!

I guess the point that the NMSU AGGIES will remain the AGGIES has gotten lost in the shuffle in this thread. I got an email from an NMSU regent to verify the name AGGIES will not change. I have a feeling that some idiot at the albucrakie paper wanted to get people relied up and sell papers during the slow time. About the only time that trash of a paper covers NMSU is when it has something negative to say. It's strange that NMSU has such a confrontational relationship with the Las Cruces Sun-News when most of the news that comes out of it is positive while they seem to have a good working relationship with the albuturkey paper who didn't even cover much of spring practice, has written negative editorials about Hal Mumme.
