Who has done their homwork on LCD tvs?
Looks like the old bigscreen is about to bite the dust (shhhhh!! Whoopee!!!) and I am going to opt for a 47" to 50" LCD HD flatscreen.
Anyone done some research on brands, prices, and places to buy?

RE: Who has done their homwork on LCD tvs?
on Friday we bought a 47" LG LCD 1080p TV from Best Buy. They honored Circuit City's sale price which was around $1550. After the 4 year service plan (I don't like it, but in home service for a TV and replacement if it goes bad is worth it for a big priced item) and taxes it came to around $1900. It wasn't in stock, and I will pick it up Wednesday night.
We were originally going to go with a Visio, but we decided to go with the LG after looking at everything I wanted vs. what was out there. I was looking at a 46" LCD that could do 1080p, had at least 2 HDMI, 2 component, 1 composite, and 1 VGA ports. In the store it looked pretty good, and the reviews on Amazon from people with the set were good, so our fingers are crossed. I'll post how I like it after we have it for a week or so.
For research, check out the reviews on Amazon, and Cnet.com. After you get the TV check out http://dl.tv/2007/08/hdtv_tip_calibrate_your_hdtv.php for a demo of how to calibrate the TV using a DVD with the THX calibration tool.
