Unique NIU Clothing
Where do people get unique NIU clothing? At the game on Saturday, I saw someone with a fabulous looking NIU red and black leather jacket (full leather) with a large logo on the back. It looked awesome. Yet, whenever I do an online search, I come up with the same NIU stuff over and over again. Where do people get these unique NIU clothing items?

RE: Unique NIU Clothing
They probably had it custom made. There's a few places back home that do that. Not sure of any places around here, but its where high school letterman jackets are done and little league uniforms and such. Maybe competitive edge does stuff like that, I'm not sure. But try your local sporting goods store (not retail chain like MC Sports).

Depends. DogFan - are you sure it was real leather?
Noah & I have these jackets ...
Which are not real leather and also not available online. Someone on our board posted about them being available at Steve & Barry's and we were fortunate enough to have someone pick them up for us and ship them to Philly (S&B doesn't do e-commerce, apparently).

What you saw was pleather, not leather. You can buy them at Steve & Barry's for $20.

Both of my sons have the NIU letterman's jackets from Steve and Barry's. The red is a little faint, almost pink. Then again, you may like that, DogFan.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy these ugly jackets. I saw them the first time during basketball season and almost puked. IMO they look like plastic and I am sure are not very comfortable to wear at all. If you do buy one of these, make sure to buy one of their pink NIU hoodies as well.

Thanks, everyone. BGSUalum, the jacket looked just like yours (except NIU, of course), but was not as shiny. The NIU jacket had the multiple dogs logo and could very well have been faux leather, but it looked real. I'll check out Steve & Barry's in DeKalb. If theirs looks cheap, I may see if I can get one made at a sporting gooods store, if possible.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. I love the jackets and we find them quite comfortable. No pink hoodies, thanks.

It may be hard to get a single item made due to licensing restrictions - that is a problem I've run into.

Noah's BGSU jacket looks better in Orange than ours does in Red. I'm with HMM. It's shiny, plastic, and cheap looking. The front of the jacket looks fine, and the multiple dogs logo is huge, but I just can't justify that big panel of red vinyl or whatever it is.
I do bring the pink/salmon NIU hoodie with me to games.... for the ladies :daphne:

I have an aweseome brown mock turtleneck with BGSU and the old "LT" Falcon logo that I wear under my old-school jersey. Custom-made and one-of-a-kind!

RE: Unique NIU Clothing
The lettermen's jackets at Steve & Barry's are the ones I was talking about. There are a bunch of people wearing them that sit around me, and I asked them where they got them. I went to S&B after the game and the jackets retail for a whole $14.98. However, they are now at 50% off, so I got them for $7.49 each! The jackets are simply awesome. They are not thin and actually have a quilt lining. The logo patches are terrific, and the jackets do look like leather, not cheap plastic. What a fabulous deal: a great-looking jacket for the price of a car wash!

The buttons are on there strong...even for my expanding girth!
I just don't know how they do it for so cheap. Sure the jackets are made in China (like everything else these days), but the patches are of very high quality. The stitching is neat and solid. The big patch on the back alone would easily sell for well over $15.00. Then, there's the dog head logo patch on the front. Plus, what about the licensing fees? I cannot figure out how they do it.
When we were buying the jackets, a lady who works in Holmes Student Center over the bookstore was buying one. Steve & Barry's does not have the NIU selection that the bookstores do, but a great-looking jacket for $7.49 and 2 decent NIU shirts for $14.98 have to be taking a bite out of the bookstores' business. I should have gone there a long time ago.
