As I said before, if you think simply pulling our troops out of Iraq will solve all of our problems over there then you are dangerously naive. You also grossly overestimate Israel's military capability. Especially after what was made obvious from their very recent handling of Lebanon/Hamas/Hezbollah. Israel isn't some super magic ninja that can use one or two special moves and make Iran's nuclear program go away. Hell, we don't even have that capability.

GTS, you really don't understand much of the world situation and I'm not trying to insult or belittle you. You really should do more research. Use your head, not your heart. I know it is easier said than done at your age. I wasn't much different when I was in my late teens/early 20's.

After listening (having to, yet again) to Dr. Paul last night, GTS isn't the only one. My favorite exchange (paraphrased)?

Moderator: So, Dr. Paul, if we dismantle the FBI and CIA, from where do we get intelligence on foreign threats?

Dr. Paul: <after prattling on about how much money we spent on intelligence before 9/11> We go to congress.

Ugh:

Quote: MR. WALLACE: Perhaps you can tell us. But if you get rid of the CIA, let alone the FBI, how would President Paul have any idea, any intelligence of what our enemies, foreign and domestic, are up to?

REP. PAUL: Well, you might ask a better question. Before 9/11, we were spending $40 billion a year, and the FBI was producing numerous information about people being trained on airplanes to fly on but not land in, and they totally ignored them. So it’s the inefficiency of the bureaucracy that is the problem. So increasing this with the Department of Homeland Security is spending more money, doesn’t solve the problem. Yes, we have every right in the world to know something about intelligence gathering, but we have to have intelligent people interpreting this information. (Cheers, applause.)

But, you know, just going for increasing presidential powers, as has been discussed, is rather disturbing to me. This whole idea that we’re supposed to sacrifice liberty for security -- we were advised against that. Don’t we remember that when you sacrifice liberty for security, you lose both? That’s what’s happening in this country today. (Cheers, applause.) We have a national ID card on our doorstep. It’s being implemented right now. We have FISA courts, we have warrantless searches, we’ve lost habeas corpus, we’ve had secret prisons around the world, and we have torture going on. (Bell.) That’s un-American, and we need to use the power of the presidency to get it back in order in order to take care of us and protect this country and our liberties.

Wow, he completely avoided answering the question. That's why I don't watch these debates. If candidates were actually called out when they pulled this crap, I'd watch with glee.

Your grasp of history is lacking. I'll sum it up for you.

Hitler/Germany invaded Poland. (We stayed out)
UK, et al declared war on Germany (we stayed out)
Germany invaded France, Belgium and the Netherlands (we stayed out)
Germany lays siege (The Blitz) against the UK in preparation for invasion (we stayed out)
Meanwhile Japan is raping China and most of Southeast Asia (We stayed out)
Japan attacks Pearl Harbor (We declare war on Japan, not Germany, but we don't actually start fighting them until 4-5 months later)
Germany declares war on the USA.
USA declares war on Axis.

the larger issue is the Left and Isolationist are viewing things through a WW1 prism, in which they felt Germany had every right to be left alone and we should "butt out....have no business in their matters"....which is why everything you note ended up happening and millions died as a result and we were lucky to win WW2 as it was.

while the rest of us look at it through a WW2/Cold War prism more so, combined with globalization, etc.

Imagine if Hitler had got nukes like Iran is trying to get......Hitler announced everything he was going to do well before he did it and the world yawned minus Winston Churchill.
