Officiating in Hawaii - 3 Different Conferences?
Is Hawaii attempting to set a new trend? Last year when UNLV played in Hawaii, the entire officiating crew was from the MWC. Of course, Hawaii was flagged 11 times for over 100 yards. UNLV was flagged once for 15 yards.

This year, all Hawaii home games will be officiated by crews made up of the WAC, Big 12, and the MWC.

Is anybody else doing this? Is any other conference doing this?

Would the Big 10 allow any other official "not" associated with the Big 10 to ref their home games?

Don't get me wrong. I like the fact that officials from 3 different conferences will be officiating Hawaii's home games. But is Hawaii the only D-1 school permitting this to happen?

Has nothing to do with what is permitted and what isn't. When it comes to non-conference games, the teams in question choose the referee's that will be used.

For example, the rule with PAC-10 schools is that their offiicials must ref all non-conf and conf home games (like Oklahoma-Oregon) last year. In turn, when Oklahoma hosts Oregon, it should be a Big 12 crew. I believe that an ACC crew ref'd the Virginia-Wyoming game in Laramie on Saturday, so it should have been a MWC crew in Charlottesville last year.
